I am having a Come To Jesus meeting with this contractor in one hour.

I had 6 people to show up and start working from 830AM to 630PM today. Same thing tomorrow, AND... on Thanksgiving as well. And the following Friday.

He is going to adjust the bill and include the correct hours that I have documented. He fired the guy that claimed he spent 30 hours waiting for me to show up and let him in to work here the other week.

I told him that I was paying $8K total for all work and he would get that ONLY after I got my pool pump and filter repaired.

His only response was "well so and so told me that you had $30K budgeted for this project..." Well first of all, he is not suppose to be getting info from so and so. He should be getting all his info from me. And in truth, I did budget $30K for this, BUT...... that was the entire thing, not just his work which I was promised at $7K, but I had $23K set aside for two new chaises, window treatments, a new office desk, a HDTV plasma tv, custom rug, and a hot tub for outside. He was like "oh, I thought you set that aside for my project." WTF??? Like I am going to spend $20K for a $7K project. The bill he gave me today was for $16,900. And he is only 60% finished as of today. Well I gave it back to him and told him $8K not a penny more and all work was to be completely finished to my satisfacation.

I told him he had until Dec 6th to be finished and out or he was fired and I would be recouping my losses through the courts. He left here visibly shaken.

your situation sounds hellified. excuse my blatant heterosexuality, but what is are "chaises?"

Not trying to sound gay but I think he is talking about chaise lounges for his new room.

Now I sound like Christopher Lowell.

Damn bro, enough's enough. There are so many shysters out there that wanna take you for a ride. And as was mentioned before, alot of people wouldn't even say anything, just take it up the ass and be done with it.

Jesus.

I like how that word always seems to be part of the equation.

Hmmm....

You're only obligated to what the contract spells out.

It'd be a headache, but I'd say, "What's on paper and not a penny more." If he botched the job (or I saw him botching it), I'd replace him and sue him for evey dime I spent over what he agreed to do the work for. He's been trying to milk you since day one.

Well this is one of his very first jobs on his own. He has been working with a builder doing projects for him and is now taking up his own business. It was because this builder had a stellar reputation that I took his referal.

But, last week I have paid a visit back to that builder and let him know how disappointed I was and how unhappy I have been with his choice. And I would certainly let it be known how badly this reflects upon the builder himself if I don't get this shit straighten out. So these other 4 guys that were here yesterday were employees of the builder himself.
