ok so i dont know whats wrong with me. i dont think im overtraining because im still going up in my weights but ive just been extremly tired lately and ive been getting sick. i can barely stay awake in my classes and after my workouts i just want to come home and take a nap. i go to bed around midnight and wake up around 7 30 everyday. there is nothing i can do about it because of my school schedule. i honestly dont think this has an impact though because i can get 10 hours of sleep and still be tired. umm i also have hockey tues, wed, thurs, fri, sat. so anyway heres my routine (5x5) anyone with any ideas why i am so tired (overtraining, not eating enough, not enough sleep).

monday - chest and biceps

5x5 incline bench
2x8 decline bench
2x8 dumbell flys
2x8 dips
-
5x5 standing barbell curl
2x8 incline curls
2x8 cable curls or icarian bicep machine

tuesday - shoulders + hockey practice

5x5 seated barbell press
2x8 side raises
2x8 shrugs
2x8 upright row

wednesday off + hockey practice

thursday - back and triceps + hockey practice

5x5 deadlifts
2x8 seated cable rows
2x8 close grip lat pulldowns
2x8 pullups, t bar row, or barbell row
-
5x5 close grip bench press
2x8 skullcrushers
2x8 tricep pushdowns

fri - off + hockey game

sat - off + hockey game

sun - legs

5x5 squats
2x8 leg curl
2x8 leg press

5x5 hamstring curl
2x8 glute and hamstring press

1x75 calf raises w/ rest pause

sooooo any ideas and why im tired. maybe i have anemia...i dunno give me something.

youre overtraining. how is your diet? are you eating often and alot? and how much water do you drink each day? i know not getting enough hydration can cause me to become fatigued.

When I'm on a diet that has relatively high carbs, I'm tired all day. Insulin thing I guess. Could that be it? Try eating smaller carb servings and make sure they're low GI.

small carbs make u tired too, errr thats no carbs. im always tired but thats jut becuz i dont get enough sleep :/

Overtraining is when you are either under-rested or under-norished. If your rest and diet is in order.. you would be fine.

Keep in mind that not only do the muscles need rest, but the entire CNS and body system needs to be refreshed as well. Just because you are not sore in the muscle you are working, does not mean your internal recuperation resources are not tapped out.

Take a week off. It will do you a world of good.

During hockey season or whatever sport your playing at the time you need to adjust your weight training or else you will be like you are now, exhausted. Good luck.

during hockey season- change up your workout & go less sets...& dont go for PRs now-- your overdoing it bet hockey practice/ games & training. When your seasons over-- hit the weights hard again.

you should also move biceps & tris to leg day-- will give you more recovery time bet. hocky days.

getting sick? go see a doc.....for all you know it could be mono-nucleosis (i think thats what yanks call glandular fever) or something like that...best to ind out before you start kissing everyone :)

You sound like your overreaching

I've been there

if your training properly you should be feeling bad ass everyweek, and feeling stronger and stronger

thanks for all the replies guys. the thing is...i have been feelinging stronger every week and with my 5x5 the weights are still going up every week. i think i need to eat more. im not gaining any weight, in fact i may be losing a few pounds but it may be water. should i cut my workout down to 3 days a week and cut out the legs until the off season? or just stick to the same thing and work on my diet to see how it affects things. i slept for 14 hours today. guess i needed to get some rest. i feel like a million bucks today.

Sounds to me like overtraining also. I'd say if you want to keep up the 5x5 while still playing hockey, make SURE your getting proper nutrition (high carbs, mod protein, mod fat). I dunno about you, but after I hit legs HARD, I can barely walk the next day....so that might be hindering yourself somewhat for hockey. Make SURE your glycogen levels are properly filled before working out, or playing your games. Make sure your properly hydrated too, this can be a BIG no no if your doing as much physical activity as you are now. I'd say so long as hockey is going on, it probably wouldn't hurt for you to upp your calories a bit. Your definetly going to burn them off. Other then that, I don't know what to tell you. Your the best judge of your own body, so try things out, see what works, and keep it up.

I remembered your thread about 5x5 during hockey season from a while ago:

In my opinion, as a person that has played hockey and lifted, you need atleast one full day off a week. Maybe even two. You could include some active recovery work on your days off. Doing heavy leg workouts the day after two straight hockey games is insane imo. If anything you should be doing active recovery that day and resting. But that is up to you
