It is set to arrive Friday/Saturday this week. I hope everyone in the area is making prepartions for this mother of all storms, and I wish everyone the best. I hope to be back online by next week. Good luck to all!!

Yes, its always fun to see your pool screen fly away. Lets hope that's all that gives way to Frances.
My chainsaw is still broke and there is still yard trash from Charley at curbside. :worried:

I heard from a couple of my neighbors about fights breaking out at the gas pumps... how pathetic is that? lol everyone is going mad... I'm glad I prepared a few days earlier :)

that stil wont stop me from going to gym :p i wouldnt know what else to do with myself. ive walked through pretty bad snow storms to the gym cause my car wouldnt budge... ;)

They are stealing the plywood from all the construction sites because all the Home Depots ran out.
The biggest problem here is going to be that all the debris from the first hurricane is piled 12-15 feet high all over the city and there is no way to pick it all up. So all those tree parts, branches, roofing, etc is going to be airborne again and this time unattached in a hurricane that's not 30 miles wide at the center but 150 miles wide at the center. The cities were so lackadaisical about getting it all picked up They wouldn't hire new people or work overtime, and now they're phucked.

nice a riot in the middle of a federal disaster zone..i can picture a guy thring to steal a tv only to be sucked into a funnel tornado spinning away into the horizon while holding on to tv..lol

for us nonsoutherners it is kind of an exciting late summer ritual watching the day to day progress of an immenent hurricane approach land from the atlantic from the comfort of our homes. so for you florida guys: is it terrifying or kind of exciting or what? \

i know a girl who lived in FL during Andrew. she did not evacuate went to friend's house where they waited out the storm. she said it was completely terrifying. she is originally form WI and had never been thru one.

I think it's the best entertainment I have ever witnessed. It sucks cleaning it up but it's great to watch. It's like a party, but then there's the morning after.
I'm from Chicago. I've been here 3 years and like most people here had no idea what a hurricane could do or what it was like. Now we get 2 in 3 weeks.
I just sit out in the "lanai" which is what they call a covered porch here with 3 walls and open on the 4th side. It's great because you're surrounded by 3 brick walls and you can sit back about 15 feet from the opening and watch trees go by. Kind of like if you were in a cave. This one will be more fun because it's during the day.

Worst thing for us nonfloridians is that the cancelled the Florida State vs Miami game. Now we have to wait till next week.

Lol Ulter I see you are pretty new around the area...you're reffering to charlie right?. Well, Imagine this one moving half speed, spinning about 3 times the speed and twice the size of Andrew. Frances could be the biggest hurricane in a decade. Wanna have a clue of his strenght?. Over the expressway, at 65-70mph, open the window and extend your hand out. Now imagine that same pressure over your hand but more than double of speed. Good luck bro!. My house looks like a bunker.

ok all you guys living in florida send me your gear just in case it gets to windy and all your shit blows away. i swear ill keep your stuff safe.. ;) oh yea express mail it to ensure the stuff is safe from frances ;)

Express mail won't work cause the airports in south FL are shut down and the ones in MCO shut down at noon.

New to the area? Yes. But since the last hurricane here (prior to Charley) was 44 years ago even if I was born here I wouldn't know any more than I do now.
Thanks for the tip. Charley went right through my neighborhood. UCF is 5 minutes north of me and the winds measured 105mph there. So I know exactly how strong the winds are because I sat out and watched 105mph winds pull the trees that were 2 feet thick out of the ground in back of my house and toss them down the block. So the car thing isn't going to teach me much more than what I have already seen in the last 3 weeks.

Frances is just slower and I don't believe it will be any where near as strong of winds, it will just last much longer and bring more rain. I'm sorry if you feel I am not frightened enough by the hurricane. I know that no matter what happens I'll be here when it leaves and knowing that it doesn't scare me.

The whole shit has slowered down but here started to rain like one hour ago without stop.

Im at ground zero.Right now 7 am sat morn winds are about 40 mph with moderate rain. The eye is about 120 miles east.Next 20 hrs will be pure hell though. At least my house is CBS const and all openings are plywooded.Sucks that my labor day weekend is a waste. :worried:

Damn .. thats pretty messed up. I am sorry to break it to you though, but this is your own fault. Its Karma coming around to you for stealing the Stanley cup from us Canadians, where it was supposed to be .. at home with us .. not in Florida. lol.

Good luck to you guys. I would hop on a cycle of dbol NPP and Prop, for the quick weight gain and extra mass to hold you down. lmfao.

The winds have started to increase speed in the last 20 minutes. They will continue to increase over the next 12 hours. Vero Beach and St Lucie are in the middle of it. They have no power so they can't read this. It sucks that it's coming across at night for them. We have all our power underground all the way to the plant so it's not likely we'll lose power unless they shut it off. We kept power three weeks ago during Charley but this will really test the power and drainage systems.

I still have power!!. There are now more than 2 million residents (I'd like to say citizens) without light. More than 2.5 million were evacuated. More than 10,000 wait inside shelters from about 2 days ago. I'm lucky to be in the southern part of the storm. The eye is approaching Lake Ockeechobee with winds over 100 mph. I have wind gusts of up to 55 mph here. The rain keeps falling and falling. Everything is closed almost in the whole state. It looks like a movie. Nobody is on the streets. It's sad to see the city so dark and damaged. We're going to have a lot of work to do. I hope to wake up with light and cell communication this morning...

Damn .. good luck to you guys .. that kinda sounds like some scary depressing shit. Hope no one gets injured or worse. Its probably going to be millions in damage eh?
