I agree with Valdez. There is nothing worse than seeing some delb throw 500 on the bar and then proceed to do quarter squats with it. I go ATF. It is the only way to get huge, thick quads. (And a large ass, I might add)

Best Ever: 545
Best Lately: 495

Anyone ever heard of "Breathing Squats"? Demon introduced me to them last week. You basically pick a weight you know you can only do about 10 times on a good day. Then, you do 20 reps with it. You can take as long as you need, the only rule is you can't rack it. I did 365 for my 20 and I felt it for days!

Last week I did 365 for 7. Hope to get over 10 reps this week. Thighs parrallel to floor.

im 5'11 and i take my butt to the floor.... when my hams hit the calfs...... well that lets me know its time to go back up

i belive in partail movements..(at least half)....... and full range..... both have benifits and disadvantages

my suggestion.. use both......

i took 300 all the way down last week..... which i know is not a ton but for me and my pinched nerve in my lower back think its good enough

i go butt to the floor to include everything..... all of my quad, thigh, ham, and glute

but its hard for me to load up because of my back

for my quad strenght i do leg press as my 2nd exercise

were talking 800-900 lbs for full reps....... (im not bragging because i know that i am currently a little puppy on this board.... but to be 20 with 4 years working out thats pretty good i think)

this biggest problem with my back is that im 5"11 ..... from the waist up i have the body of a 6"2 man......... from the waist down i have the height of a 5"8 man

so my back cant squat very well..... which sucks...... because everyone reading this loves to get under a crap load of weight

The only squats I count are ATF. Anything else is bullshit and there are no excuses. Any moron can load up massive weight and do half squats. It takes some real strength to go past parrallel and blast your way back up. There needs to be some sort of sensor that measures the distance from your ass to the ground. It should beep when you are low enough so that you know you've went down far enough. Personally I go all the way down that my body will let me and get the full stretch.

Right now I'm doing 245 for 5 sets of 6. I can easily go higher but I'm slowly adding weight each week to make sure my tendons and knees are ready for it. I'm quite sure I can do 315 for at least 3-4 but I'll be patient. I'm 6' 206lbs right now btw. Which brings up another point. The heavier you are, the more you are squatting... Just like pullups, the lighter guys have the advantage because they are supporting less weight.

I've found that simply increasing the reps with decent weight is something much more easy to recover from, and the results come with greater safety and less likelihood of injury.

275x33-35

Works for me.
