how many carbs are really in those bars?

low carb bars state 3g carbs per serve but dont include glycerine or fructose. eg EAS MYOPLEX LOW CARB.
with these factors included how many carbs am I actually consuming?

Fructose is a sugar I belive, so it would be classified under that in the nutritional facts and therefore be included in the total carbohydrate count. As for the glycerin, most of the bars are trying to stray away from using that because people are realizing that they are just getting a filler. Natures best (solid protein bars)has come out with new versions of all of their bars that are much better and I am sure other companys will follow.

Yes, it doesn't include glycerine, but, in fact, glycerine doesn't change the blood sugar properties but , CAN be stored in the liver as glycogen; thus, kicking you of Ketosis by stopping the output of the Glucagone hormone. But overall, it's pretty accurate.

Detour Bar

Has anyone heard or tried those new Detour Bars by Next Nutrition? They are supposed to taste identical to a Snickers Bar but they have 30 grams of protein in them and fewer carbs. Sounds too good to be true. I know bars lie, but if your on vacation or somthing and you dont want to totally splurge, these may be good. I love Snickers Bars, so this is exciting news, lol.

Yes and yes. They are SO good. Unfortunately I've yet to find them singly, only in boxes of a dozen. And like Lay's potato chips, you can't eat just one... :p

I wonder how many carbs are actually in these bars, I mean if it tastes just liek a Snickers.... It makes me wonder if it really just is a Snickers and there isn't 30 grams of protein in it. Here is the nutrition facts on it:

I was having a major sugar craving so I went on a search for something low-carb but sweet tasting. I ran across these Atkins things, peanut butter cups and "candy bars". They boasted only 3 net grams of carbs. The nutrition facts said 15 grams. 12 of them were sugar alcohol, which as Mr.X pointed out to me, will kick you out of ketosis.

Yea I guess bars do lie, but what the harm in them if your not trying to cut up? I mean if you can find one that tastes good and has decent nutrition, what's so bad about it, especially if you can't pack a meal.

ive done my research!!!

4g USEABLE carbs...25g total carbs.

25!!!!!

im not having those bars again...so not worth it!

Detour bars have 21 g of carb, but only 6 g of sugar. The rest is probably glycerine - I saw that listed on the label. In other words, the rest of the carb content is just filler - you don't get added benefit from it.

If you're in mass phase, go for it! I'm having a hard time getting enough kcalories since I'm eating clean, so I'm adding 1-2 protein bars/day just to get my kcals up. It's either that or natty PB, and bars are a little more portable than PB. Plus, it will be pretty easy to knock my kcals back down once I start dieting again in March - first thing I'll cut out is the protein bars. :-)

what is the verdict on

these bars if you want to use them as a replacement meal. I am trying to loose about ten pounds and have been eating 50/30/20 pcf. Could i use these bars lets say twice a day as meal replacements as long as i stay within my calorie requirements? Any help would be appreciated. By the way i have tasted them and they do not taste excactly like a snickers but are pretty close all thing considered. By far the best protein bar i have tasted.

I had a Detour bar a few days ago. No question the best tasting protein bar I ever had..

Makes me think these Detour Bars are too good to be true and the label claims are bogus.

Why do they taste so great compared to other bars with similar macronutrient profiles?

Has anyone tested these Detour Bars?

I bought a box of them, but only ate a few cause I'm convinced the label claim is off...they taste just too damn good.

Protein bars shouldn't taste like candy, IMO. I have a hard time believing there's only 6 grams of sugar in the detour bar.

If you're trying to lose weight, there's no real harm in eating a protein bar as one of your meals/snacks; however, if it's a low carb bar with glycerine, you're basically just eating carb kcalories that do nothing for you. I think you'd be better off eating real food instead of the protein bar. Plus, protein bars - especially ones that taste like detour - can be hard to eat just one at a time.
