Yeah they did. I'm not sure what's more sad though - those dudes, or people who track down their photos online, then spend considerable amounts of energy "making fun" of them in a 5th grade gang mentality.

OK I can agree with that can think of two that pop out compared to the rest.

But that was some homely looking crowd.

And the some of the guys, well, it makes me giggle a bit when I think back of what the guidos of the 80's looked like.

I think it was an unfair sampling tho. Seemed to be all from one night in one club.

I never heard the term Guido til I moved out of RI to Baltimore. I laughed, cause one of my best friends from RI was named Guido. Good fucking kid, too.

i say rednecks win by a landslide. but then again im a lifelong southerner never have been exposed to any guido-dom.

They have guidos in Baltimore?!

I always thought they were just in the Bronx, Brooklyn and parts of Jersey.


I think any extreme of and style or subculture is always a bit on the bad side (ie: these photos) like some Goth chicks.

The funny thing about the pics is that there are no real guidettes in the pics, the girls are more tame then they were in the 80's or maybe it's just the lack of really big hair.

I just can't get this one guy out my head now from Pelham Bay he wasn't guido and wasn't yuppie but somewhere in-between. He'd get his TAG watch, vintage bimmer, crisp stripe button down - halfway buttoned but have big wet curls and wrists and neck layer in gold.

It was college in Balt, mostly kids from NJ and NY.

Oh, and you do know there are lots of Italians outside of NY and NJ, right? That was the biggest shock to me when I became friends with tons of NJ and NY peeps in college - how unaware they were of the world outside Brooklyn (so to speak). I grew up with more Italians than any of them, yet they had no clue italians existed outside of that area.

I guess pop culture is stronger than truth in most cases

staten island (Barf)....Although some of the most stunning girls i know up north are from staten island.

i can't hate on guidos totally though....i def have guido characteristics and my entire fraternity was basically juiced up, spikey haired italians. my 8% italian shining through

But the Italians that I've met that were not from the tri-state area were totally different. Even LI has clusters of Italian neighborhoods and they are different from Brooklyn.

I swear I can hear the Goomba shuffle and when they start talking I smile to myself because it just reminds me of high school.

Yes, a lot people are like that (unaware of the world beyond their stoop).

I like tease but it's because I have some great memories of brothers and family that were not my own but welcomed me in with open arms (and copious amount of food you'd better eat).

Tis true. Even the Italians within Rhode Island (I know, hard to imagine) are different from each other. Cranston eyeties and North Providence eyeties are worlds apart.

The Brookyln kids (I lived with 4 of them my jr and sr years) didn't really know much about St. Joseph's Day, like I did. But they had the feasts that dwarfed ours immensely.

I like Dita's current look, she can pull it off but I am curious as to what she looks like relaxed or if she's always dressed to the nines.

I love the 40's clothes and hair but sometimes boots, jeans, a tee and basic pony tail with no male up is nicer.

Definitely dark haired, pale, vintage Dita. The clips from her shows on YouTube are AMAZING. Burlesque takes serious talent it seems.
 
Man... Keep all of those goofy mother fuckers up north. I would fucking kill myself if I had to deal with those cum eaters on a regular basis. I can only take so much Douchebaggery before I snap.
