How did the DEA read my E-mail?

Damn, all this shit you people are talking about is really making me uneasy about my computer. I have had some incriminating shit stored on it. But I deleted it long time ago. And now you all are telling me it's a bomb, that can explode any moment.. :( Not good, not good.

QUESTION

TO ALL,

A good friend of mine who majored in computer science once told me that he fucked up his friends computer/hard drive (as a prank.) by simply attaching a couple of magnets on it (the Hard drive itself inside the comp.) and then turning it on and letting it run. I don know if this was the real reason my friends PC was messed up but he did have a fried hard drive after this incident. Can anyone back this claim?

Fucking bunch of idiots, I feel like I am talking out of my ass. You don't wanna listen to me then fine, but believe me this is one subject I know better than any of you.

Let me make this clearer. NOTHING will keep the technicians at IBM Labs from removing your disk in a clean room from the drive, removing the layers one at a time, and retreiving any information that was ever put on the drive. NOTHING.
The last time I talked to them it was approx $10,000 an hour with a two hour minimum. But that was two years ago so the price may have changed.
Your local prosecutor probably won't spend that much time and money to do this. But it CAN be done.

doesn't a low level format totally clean a disk?

NO. It puts pointers to "trick" the computer in thinking as if there is no data from that point on. This is done to make format very fast, otherwise it would take a long time.

I'm convinced! My hard drive is a big loose end. I'll replace it every week or so. Thats cheeper than my attorney, bail and prison. Thanks.

What do you propose you will do with all the data? Ohh lemme guess, copy it? Oh and I guess you didn't think that it's possible that incriminating data from your old hd can transfer to your new one if you do just one thing wrong?

trojan

Tell your lawyer that you downloaded a trojan by mistake and a "hacker" downloaded the information on your computer remotely. They could trace IPs and shit through your ISP but that would be near impossible. Might be too late anyway since they found stuff in your house.

Too far fetched, and how do you prusume proving a trojan on his computer if they looked and saw it was clean?
