How closely are you supervised at work?

My boss rarely comes to see what I'm doing. I hardly ever see her or get emails from her. She sits down the hall from me but she's so damn busy all the time.

On the other hand, I watch the people working for me in my dept. like a hawk. I know what they are doing every second of the day. All 25 of them. I can see how long their phone is ringing, how long they've been on a call, how long they have been in the bathroom, etc. I'm all over them like white on rice. I run a call center so its the nature of the beast so to speak. But, in growing weary of babysitting grown adults.

not really at all
My father is a PITA sometimes but I just tell him to STFU

little do your employees know that they could gain 5-10 minutes of freedom by distracting you with snackalicious items.

I could never function in that kind of environment. my boss often doesn't come in, and when he does, it's around 1 or 1:30. he's super laid-back and doesn't even know what we're doing much of the time. however, i do sit in his office...his desk is 10 feet behind me. at first, i hated that, but it's actually interesting, because peeps are coming in to talk about this and that...sometimes you hear some interesting company shit, etc. better to learn, or take advantage.

i work from home whenever i need to, etc...lots of flexibility. of course, it's not enough, because i'm a malcontent who hates everything, and i think about quitting all the time.

but still, it's a good situation, relatively speaking.

for the last 15 years, very litle supervison as i had a "rotating" supvervisor to cover 3 different site locations. he would make a token appearance and then be "in transit" and unfindable. fine with me!

about a month ago, upper management, in their unfathomable ways, deceided to create 5 new supervisors.

now each location has a supervisor on duty, former co-workers suddenly trust into management who think the "work world" now revolves around them, telling employees with more years on the job than they have what to do.

after a few EEO grievances the new pencil necks will calm down some... :lmao:

So is your spelling

Not much. I am usually on the road so it's tough to keep a good eye on me. But there are days like today that I waste way to much time and live a guilt trip for it. But that's another story

I'm not that supervised, there are like 5-6 supervisors but they rarely walk around, we have full internet access because we need to do research on many cases/calls we get, if I'm watching facebook while on a call they usually dont care.... except one girl.... she's always harassing everyone... she once said that one of my co-workers watched movies online all day on Saturdays, guess what? he doesn fucking work on saturdays... fucking lunatic...

Not at all. My boss's office is right across they way from mine and he probably only pokes his head in a few times a day.

I still manage to resist coming to this place while at work, though. I'll surf other sites but I cannot imagine getting busted poking around

a steroid site while at work.

Not closely at all. Very similar sitch to you and your supervisor.

I supervise only 6 people and they are very solid employees who've all been doing their jobs 10 years or more. My job is basically just to do the annual perf review on them as they actually require no supervision. Christ I would hate to have your job, Smurf.

Fuck how closely you're supervised at work, I wanna know how many of you actually work.

*queue the obama voters*

I'm not sure what just happened, but did you just call me a bitch?

Rule #1: do your job and do it better than everyone else and you will never be supervised and you will get promoted.
ahhh the irony here....you abviously have never been a career federal civil service time server employee...

I wonder how many Grievance letters rnch has filed in his 20 yrs?Its gotta be in the 100"s?

you have to pick your battles carefully in life and work the system to your advantage..something you have obviously not learned yet.

and judging from the whiney ass threads you make about someone else getting a job you think you deserve, it has obviously worked well for you.

We don't mind you looking over our shoulders as long as your big tittays are about to fall out.

I'm not watched at all but if i don't do my work, that gets noticed, so i stay as late as I need to to get things done.

Slightly micromanaged but comes with the territory in my profession. Everything I do goes to someone who gets paid more to do less to review.

I can't agree with this.

Work for a major railroad, if they can find a way to fire you, they will. Anything to get rid of people that they are paying 100% full pay.

We have so many f'n trainmasters, "management" it's unreal. Always watching you looking to nail you for something. The more they watch the slower and less we do... you'd think that they'd catch on
