How Army gyms differ from Golds...

During the hours of 6:30 am to 7:30 am it is our job to workout. Everyone unless they are hurt or on some other critical assignment is wearing the Army workout uniform and either running/doing calisthenics outdoors or inside one of the gyms working out. We have great gyms, with as much state-of-the-art equipment as any Golds.

On cold or rainy days you get a lot more people than normal in the gym, and a lot of soldiers standing around talking.

As usual, at least 3 times this morning I kicked a soldier out into the cold because he was standing around yacking and not working out.

I love my job. :)

bbforlife I pm'd you.

rank is not really a factor, we are all in PT clothes. just no screwing around in the gym, I could have been talking to a General for all I know

Oh yeah, and so were the dining facilities. :p

Yup, I agree, people still don't believe me that back in the day we had our own Ranger qualified cooks...The best in the Army....BUT NOTHING comes close to Air Force dining halls...They were kick ass...!!!

I miss Red Team.

BG you would not recognize it now. We have brand new Hammer Strenth machines, over 50 late model cardio machines, and tons of high quality free weights and machines.

It is the gym of choice at the Hood.

COMMO=THE VOICE OF BATTLE ;)

Airforce chow halls are the bomb. I will catch a ride whenever I can to go eat at Elmendorf AF base. Our chow halls here at Ft Rich can't even compare. Not even the Milk and Ceral here is as good.

We have a better gym here Called Buckner Physical Auditorium
it's not all that, but it's better then what the AF base has, and I haven't even seen a Civilian Gym that would come close. Working out isn't that big here from what I have seen

ttlpkg you better enjoy that Gym there at Hood cause it's probably one of the better ones in the army

Any of you ever go to Audie Murphy Gym at benning? that place was cramped but at least had good equipment and serious lifters there. 75th HHC had a bad Ass Gym but when I was around we weren't really allowed to lift in there but a few times since we endured a few good smoke sessions to step in there.

Definitely no place for RIPpies. :)

Did they fix up the one down the street....I think it was called Harvey. Someting about those blue walls didn't put me in the workout mood. More like a hospital.

Never thought I'd miss ol' Hood. On second thought, if I was still there I'd probably be deployed so scratch that thought...............

Hmmm....

I know in Vegas some of the AF and Army guys came by the 24-Hour Fitness place even though there was a base gym. The feedback they gave was that the base gym was too crowded for them to get in when they wanted...it was easier for them to go off-base to train.

Harvey is nice too, not as good as Red Team, but it is pretty much strictly an Ironhead gym. Not much into cardio, plus the only place on post where you can go in at lunch and just take of your BDU top to workout.

If you're ever in town I'll give you an escorted tour of the new Hood and treat you to lunch. :)

You can always find a time to go to the gyms on post when they are not crowded, just like civilian gyms. The main reason most soldiers buy gym memberships off-post is because it is close to the house or to scope the hotties which you won't find many of on post. Both are good reasons.

You can give me a tour of the scenic Support Ave. then take me to Popeyes hehehehe. My hubby's med board is going through at Hood so we may have to come up that way. If I do I'll let you know.:D
