I didn't read through the entire thread and maybe this has been brought up... But why does it matter to anyone else who they marry? I think they should be able to enjoy the same benefits if the are willing to commit to each other as a "traditional" couple should.
If marriage is such a "sacred" institution why is the divorce rate over 60% in this country? Religion has zero to do with it. If you choose to mrry in a church that is your choice. But why would you presume to be able to tell anyone else who they can and can't marry? How does it affect you at all?

i'm not really in favor of gay marriage...i think marriage is an institution designed for a man and a woman. but i do think we (yes, i'm gay) should be entitled to all the rights as others...civil unions with the unioners having all of the same rights as married couples is more than fine with me.

incidentally, been with my partner for 8 years and we are definitely talking about making our bond "official"...

This is what I am talkin about. I don't care if gay couples have all the rights that I do as a married woman, but I DO NOT believe in the marraige part of it. Civil unions are fine. Sorry to have created such a mess here by answering a question that someone stated. However, every homeowner should be paying school taxes. People who just live together pay school taxes if they own a house.

The biggest reason for me is that is makes God angry at a nation that endorses it. And I don't want to make someone angry that could crush you like a bug, kill you then bring you back to life to do it again. And if you do what He commands He will totally bless a nation. I know ya'll don't believe in Him but that doesn't mean He doesn't exist.

I thought god judged each individual not the actions of a nation as a whole. No God definetely judges nations as a whole look at Soddam and Gomora for his wrath and then look a Ninevah where God showed mercy because the King(like our president) took action and brought the nation but to Godly standards and the nation was spared.

You misunderstood post. Inotherwords black people are black in the bedroom and everywhere. They are always black. Homosexuals are really only gay when they are doing the act. So why not keep bedroom stuff where is belongs in the bedroom.

Come on now Curling, Where a person has sex has nothing to do with the way they live their life. You say Black people are black all the time, this is true, just as whites are white, hispanic are hispanic, Asian are Asian.... And homosexuals are homosexuals all the times as well. In my point of view the only thing that should be banned at this juncture are backwoods thinking individuals like youself. This is now the 21st centrury, it time to move past sexual behavior.
