How about the gay marriage bans!?!?!

dee_wire said:
i'm not really in favor of gay marriage...i think marriage is an institution designed for a man and a woman. but i do think we (yes, i'm gay) should be entitled to all the rights as others...civil unions with the unioners having all of the same rights as married couples is more than fine with me.

incidentally, been with my partner for 8 years and we are definitely talking about making our bond "official"...

Fine, I think a lot of people are arguing over the actual term "marriage" and to me that's a matter of semantics. As long as the state views their union as the same thing as a marriage, then I don't see the harm in that.

Additionally, this isn't something that needs to be put in the constitution. I would think that conservatives at the very least would want to make it a states rights issue, as opposed to having the federal governement telling everyone to do.

While I think your thread on BTS recently stating that most men were bi-curious is absolutely rediculous, you have raised some very valid points in this post.

I find it amazing that a gay couple, who have no intention of adopting have to pay a school tax, yet they will not even recognize your union.

The point about sinners is valid. Homosexuality being a sin was part of the torah... and I know many Christians who claim homosexuals will burn in hell, and who say they must be banned, who have told lies and touched the carcass of a dead pig ... or even shaved the corners of their beard off EVERY MORNING with a razor (going straight to hell for that one). So, my question then becomes... are we judged by these laws, or do we receive salvation by the blood of Christ? It would appear to me, from my reading of the Bible, that a homosexual who recieved salvation through the blood of Christ would be just as welcome in Heaven as someone who lied or touched a pig and recieved the same salvation...

Curling, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here.

:rainbow: First off, I want to state that my BTS post , At no time did I state that all men were Bi-curious.
With that said I agree with the rest of your statement. I would also like to add that religion has no place when it comes to making law. One persons religious view may not be the next persons view. So, I dont believe it should be used as a rule to lay out peoples lives...... :qt:

We aren't talking about religion we are talking about GOD. You know the creator. He's a pretty sharp fella so it seem we would be pretty dumb not to look at His laws when we are making ours.

I mean that is like trying to assemble something complicated without looking at the instuctions from the inventer.

sigh like I said, Im fine with civil unions, being gay is not a choice, and I think its ludicrous for people to actually believe it is. Thats saying someone chooses to alienate themselves and subject themselves to all kinds of hate and what not, and Gods not going to create something thats automatically condemmed. Most gay people that I know are really good people, I don't ask them to sacrifice their happyness and not pursue any relationships with others because thats ludicrous as well, everyone has a right to happiness, please just don't rub it in my face or try and ramrod it down my throat, people do also have the right to their opinions.

THis does not change my stance on marriage though, and my arguments previous stand firm, Im fine with civil unions that affords gay couples their rights, just spare me from having to see any PDA (I hate seeing it among straight people to)

Bisexuals on the other hand, I don't hold too much respect their because I think in that context its mostly sex driven and it is a choice

Granted civil unions is better than not...

however, the supreme court ruled in brown vs. board that "separate but equal" is inherently unequal.

Let gays marry if they want.

Let religious heterosexual couples see it as a "god-sanctioned union" or whatever.

The problem is that religious people are enforcing their RELIGIOUS definition of marriage on everybody, and that's not cool. Let it be religious for you, but not for them.

No you're right. Sin is sin. Christ's blood covers all.

But I disagree about school tax. Everybody even single people pay school tax. It is for the benefit of the nation to have educated young people.
:rainbow:
If we are to doing things that benifit the nation for all the children. Then does it not make sence that you should not go around making laws that will make a young gay boy or girl feel like its wrong to feel the way they feel inside. We should be embracing all aspect of life. Just think what the United State would be like today if women or Black people had no voice. Just as they had no choice on who they were , Homosexuals do not choose either. Although there are those who feel we do, which is crap. Why would someone choose to be looked down upon or talked about in such a way by the majority of the world.

This is not a good comparison. Because black people couldn't make a living by keeping their sexual acts in the closet.

:rainbow: what kind of crap is that? I don't make my living with my sexual acts...how stupid. And I am not in the closet, never have been. To those that are in the closet are there because of remarks like yours that keep them there for fear of what people with say about them.

You misunderstood post. Inotherwords black people are black in the bedroom and everywhere. They are always black. Homosexuals are really only gay when they are doing the act. So why not keep bedroom stuff where is belongs in the bedroom.
