home olympic weights sets

TomoUK said:
At the moment i am in the process of building a platform in my garage and need some advice on equipment. I found this set which seems reasonably priced but i am unsure of what kind of quality it might be. Does anyone have an opinion or know where i can get a good set in UK?

Also could someone recommend a squat rack?

I would get your weights from somewhere you can pick them up from. Otherwise you will get KILLED with the shipping cost.

I have used IronMind in the past for some racks, etc....

everyone tries to get us on shipping. you ever see that guy that sells those CD's for learning purposes on commercials? he says they're free, and all you have to do is pay for shipping. they charge you at least 5 bux, but it's not even worth 1. people like to rip people off!

I am not really sure if these are real oly lifting plates and bars since it only says "rubber coated". especially for this price I would be a little bit wary. unfortunately there are not many stores in Europe who offer this kind of equipment. what did your coaches say? cant they hook you up with something? I bought my stuff at www.nerlinger.com but it is a German store...

yeah i thought the price might be too good to be true, ill ask at the club i guess they must have contacts. thanks for the link.

there was a guy on here that built his own squat rack out of 2X8's and he was moving a TON of weight. He cut angles in the corners and leaned it against a brick wall and cut notches out for the squat bar and has 4 2X8's on each side bolted together. Talk about a very solid and cheap set. I'll try searching for it.
