They gave one month for every year of employment so that would've only been four months for me. Back in the dotcom heyday I knew a guy that got six months severance after less than 18 months months.
2 weeks pay for every year work between 1-4 years
6 months pay for years 5-9
9 months pay for years 10-19
1 year pay for 20 years and then 1 month pay for every year you work past 20. Example = 25 years service you get a total of 17 months pay. (12 + 5)
That was severance.
Voluntary buy outs had an undisclosed lump sum up front. The severance package wasn't paid up front but rather you continued to draw your check every two weeks. They still took out taxes and shit.
