If it makes you feel any better, the gear is more expensive than the weights, and a clean healthy protein rich diet, is even more expensive than gear :) Just thought I'd cheer ya up abit.

Bro, home exercise equipment is the only thing in this world that depreciates in value faster than a driving a new car off the lot. Do an ebay search locally(shipping will rape you)and p/u on your own-let someone else absorb the loss-buy your equipment used.

Sad but true, and new or used, it performs exactly the same, cant hurt it.

most of the cost is in the shipping (either to the store or to the store and then to you).

look on ebay or craiglist you can usually find someone selling an weight set or dumbells (often pretty much new)- though even well worn DB's and plates are usually quite "new". exercise equipment is one thing that buying used is often very good- because most people never use it (its like brand new)

1600$ is not a bad price for new 1800lbs of dumbells- especially if its delivered.

an example of used price
5 through 65's in 5lb increments 70, 80,90, 100 (also Ivanko)
1590lbs for 600$

That's the reason I went with BOWFLEX (SelectTech)... oh yeah, almost as bad as the commercials with John Basedow. Also another issue was getting them to my home, which will have to be workout out some how when I get the larger bells... because I do not have a truck, my little ass car's shocks would blow out the top trying to bring home a shite load of weights.

I got 5 lb- 52.5 lb dumbells shipped to my residence in two boxes.

$399 though. But IMO worth it, and I'm still on a quest to find the rest of my dumbells somewhere, lol... the 55 lbs and up so I can complete a whole dumbell workout, shrugs with the barbell here aren't getting me anywhere... enough of my rant.

BigCracker... the powerblocks: How do you like them? I looked into them as well. My reason for not getting them is that I wasn't sure how curling one's wrist when doing exercises would be restricted for certain moves... What's your take on them since you own them??

best bet is to by them in sets. like a 310lb Olympic set. much better deals.
look around garage sales, news papers as well.

That's pretty slick! How do you like them? How long have you had them?
A long time bro. About 7 yrs or so-they're pretty tough too. However I don't abuse them. I drop them on rubberized floormats from a reasonable height.

Occasionally I'll even tie down my pitbulls to them to keep them from wrecking the house when I'm gone(two busted coffee table later)-they still drag them around like they're nothing.
