Hmm, lost 5 lbs this week on a CKD. Too much?

Well I don't know what the deal is, but the scale now says 175, as opposed to 180 or so when I started. I always weigh myself in the same morning fasted state after I piss. My routine was like this...

Exercise: (all done in AM fasted state)
Day1: upper body depletion workout a'la Bodyopus
Day2: Lower body Bodyopus depletion workout
Day3: 30 mins AM cardio on the stairmill (Gauntlet, for those familiar)
Day4: same as day 3
Day5: same as day 3
Day6: nothing
Day7: nothing
Day8: AM fasted state Depletion circuit workout (begin refeed with Carbo Force right after workout)

Diet: 1800 cals per day , 5 meals per day, ratio being 1.5 grams of fat for every gram of protein. Foods of choice were eggs, heavy cream, cheese, protein mix, flax oil, bacon, hot dogs.

Supplements: Multivitamin 2x /day.

I know I definately must have lost some water..Tho' I do not think I lost really any muscle..Definately not a full pounds worth for that matter either, I know the body can clinically maintain its LBM on 15% calories from protein, so I should be ok int hat area (But no, I don't know for sure as I'm not getting BF tests). So I'm wondering, if I lost a LB of solid fat, and barely any muscle, is it possible to lose 4 lbs of water?

i wasn't getting composition tests and the regimin was similar. i'm fairly sure it was almost all water, because i looked very flat and my face was thinner

You just lost a couples of pounds of water..... when you don't eat carbs, your body doesn't need water anymore because he has no carbs to digest.... so the body drops water...

Um.

Your body always "needs" water. Otherwise you wouldn't have people dying of dehydration.

The near-instant water drop on any kind of ketogenic diet is due to the fact that every molecule of stored glycogen is bound to 4 water molecules, and insulin levels will be extremely low in the absence of the macronutrient that raises them the most. No glycogen + little insulin = less water retention.

I'm not lying to make friends. I'm lying to sell my super-anabolic-nutrient-partitioning-slices-dices-and-juliennes hydration supplement, H200000. That's H-two-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh.

Hmm...Mrx? MS? Ulter? Mac? What do you guys think?

ceebs is right in that alot of water is associated with glycogen and with decreased glycogen, there's less water.

also accounting for the water loss is that with decreased glycogen, the kidneys become less efficient at concentrating urine therefore, more sodium is excreted and you get a temporary diuresis.

I'm also developing a product that I call "air". It's still in the drawing board stages (and by this I mean a crude sketch I made with a crayon on construction paper), but there are some very promising studies that indicate naso-pharyngeal administration of "air" will greatly improve cardiovascular and pulmonary function. Not only for athletes, but for your average couch potato too.

Nobody had better steal my patent.

Hello, I would like one case of those please. Thank you

Ceebs, I'll buy shares in your company!!

Like the ladies and gentlemen said, it's mostly water due to lower insulin and less glycogen stores. Keep in mind this is the same 5lbs that comes back on the instant you pig-out on carbs (plus a bit extra usually).

one weekend carbup i gained over 8lbs on the scale... went from looking pretty slim to looking like the michillan man in 2 days. the following week i lost those 8 and then some.

most of it is water. when you carb up your body will hold a LOT of water depending on how many and what types of carbs u eat. you'll lose most of it by the time you've been back in keto for a few days.
