My brother is HIV positive from a transfusion over six years ago. He is wasting away to nothing. I suggested he inquire about AS but the doctors he sees hardly speak any english let alone know jack about AS. Can someone tell me what specific ones he should inquire about. He can't change doctors as he is on some kinda free care gig. As far as I'm concerned, he is getting what he is paying for which is nothing. Thanks in advance. He has gone from about 180 lbs. to about 135 and I feel if he had some meat on him he might put up a better fight.

If he's wasting away-most HIV doctors will administer DECA/norandralone to retard muscle loss. The shots are given 1-2 times per month. If the doc wont administer then go behind his back and score the guy some. I had a friend in the same situation as your brother and he was wasting to nothing- the right meds and the AS shots brought him back bigtime. I know a num ber of people with HIV who've begun giving themselves shots of DECA/test and gained back lots of weight and energy. If the system won't help-then you gotta take it into your own hands before its too late!! You can't always assume the doctor is doing his best.

listen to what providian says....i have seen the same in people who are HIV + and wasting and the steroids really helped...deca is powerfully anabolic and is often given with test

living in the past

Your sources are too old, some from 1988. We are in year 2001.

Currently the best options are, nutrition, exercise, HIV drugs, growth hormones, and steroids.

wrong thread

I'm sorry my prior message was in response to Asteroth's thread.

I wish I could respond to your brother's situation. I have seen serostim, (gh), do wonders in my area. Don't give up.

DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIND THE RIGHT DOCTOR>>>DO NOT SETTLE FOR IGNORANCE
Find the Gay & Lesbian center in your town and get him there... You are in charge of your own health Get Angry get aggressive and get loud. DO NOT TAKE NO OR AN ANSWER:eek:

I have a really good friend who contracted HIV about 2 years ago fooling around with 5 hookers in the NYC. It was a damn shame too cause he totally lost the will to live.... He went from a beefy muscular guy that was 240lbs, about a year and a half ago, he was about 140lbs... HE went to a doctor on the island where we live, and got prescribed Serostim GH. Along with the triple cocktail he's on, and the GH, the antibody count is very low, almost non-existent, and the he is now up to 190lbs, and is finally looking muscular again... He has recently married this wonderful girl he met in a clinic. After thinking about suicide for almost 2 years, he is finally back to enjoying life and living like he used to. I would suggest your brother try to get the Serostim kits, they will help him deeply, and you can even supplement some AS for him.

My best friend is an HIV+/AIDS from several years and went to a severe wasting state 3years ago, even he was 140pounds and that's was awful as well

The doctor gave him Testosterone 600mg/week with 600mg/week of Nandrolone(Deca-durabolin) for 10weeks then 6weeks off then starts again with 200mg Test and 200mg Deca for 10weeks and then rest for 6weeks then restart again with 600mg & 600mg/week and so on

and recommended this supplements as well

1. Complete multi-vitamin - 25 to 50 mg B-complex, including vitamin B6, with each meal. Most people report that a total of about 200 mg of B6 per day is best. I also suggest that total daily doses of folic acid should be 1000 mcg, and vitamin B12 should be 1000 mcg to reduce homocysteine for the health of the cardiovascular system.
2. Complete multi-mineral - the daily total equals 1000 mg calcium, 600 mg magnesium, 200 mcg selenium, 200 mcg chromium, 30 mg zinc, with all the other minerals.
3. Antioxidants - 1,000 to 2,000 mg of vitamin C with 400 IU of vitamin E per meal.

and this supplements on cycles, 8 weeks on 4weeks off

1. N-acetyl cysteine - 500 mg per meal.
2. Carnitine - 200 mg per meal.
3. Glutamine powder - Glutamine works best when taken in 3 to 5 divided doses per day. 12 grams per day for maintainence.
4. EPA fish oil capsules - 1 to 2 capsules per meal.
5. Alpha lipoic acid - 100 mg per meal.

as for nutrition, check out my last post on meal plansClick here
I'm mentioning dosens of meal plans and recipes, just let him use it

as for Training/workout
Train 4days/week at 60minutes/day
the training would be like the following

Day 1- Chest-Triceps
Day 2- Back-Biceps
Day 3- Rest
Day 4- Shoulders
Day 5- Legs
Day 6- Rest
Day 7- Rest or repeat

Each set should be done very controlled with a super slow motion, 10rep for each set, 15sets for large bodyparts and 9sets of small bodyparts

also let him drink plenty of water, and of course consuming at least 6meals/day

Good luck
