I went to the dentist this morning. I love the dentist (not even kidding). They always recognize me there because I profess my love of the dentist. She could tell I was a good flosser. My gums never bled at all.

I'm in a really good mood. Better than I've been in a long time.
 
good, skipped my 2 classes.. but classes are basically over, just some test and finals and projects to do, nothing big

IMO, if it's a general discussion, then by all means say all the fucks and shits you want.

When it comes to a general site/bussiness complaint is when you should be a bit more concerned and serious. I can't say that I've seen you do that yet when real concerns are expressed.

Well, its really hot and muggy out. I am way behind at work. I can't figure out what the hell is wrong with this damn machine I was supposed to have finished repairing yesterday. I have to drive down to Chicago again to fix another instrument that someone else fucked up. I have a slight headache, and I spilled acetonitrile all over my left pant leg. Other than that, today is great!

And don't lock threads, delete them, or ban members based on personal differences.

if your emotions stay as a poster, then yes.

you should be able to do everything posters do. you are one of us.

but when it comes down to enacting mod duties, that should be separate, almost like your mod tag isnt even attatched to your name, like u are a different person, a robot, who does a job.


so yes, cuss out, bitch people out, voice ur opinion, as a member of EF does, but dont lock threads if you disagree with the reply given to you

basically, i think the only way around not letting emotions getting in the wya of locks and arguements, is to have a rule for mods stating that if they are ingaged in an arguement with a member, they are not allowed to lock the thread the arguement takes place in - but rather must post in the mod forum, and have an unbiased co-worker of theirs read it over an ddecide if its lock worthy.

(1) Baby sat both grandsons and they are a blast.
(2) Increased weights and reps in workout.
(3) Solved a big insurance problem.
(4) Super beautiful blue sky day outside.
(5) DOW/NAS up, helping my 401 k.
(6) Gave best gift at wedding I attended.

Seriously, I said the same thing to the mods, more than once. Not as a straitjacket, not as "do this or I'll demod you" but as a Real Good Idea.

Now, don't get me wrong. If a mod posts on page one, one time, and the thread goes crappy on page six, I don't have a problem with the same mod locking it up at that point.

Where we agree is more along these lines -- say a mod is in the middle of a shitfight on page six. Should he be allowed to lock that thread just to get the last word? No. If another mod sees that it's going nowhere fast, though, it shouldn't matter that one of the monkeys throwing dung happens to be a mod. I think the second mod should tell the first mod that it's time to back off, and should lock the thread the same as any other shitfight. The first mod should not be the one to actually do the locking (and should not post after the lock).

Robots make lousy mods. Our mods are human. We appreciate them putting in the hours they do, and we want them to be able to participate here fully. No, we don't want them to abuse their powers. By the same token, we don't want members baiting mods and then crying because they kept pushing buttons until they got a reaction. That's not fair either.
