I'm sure you all can help me! I had a mountain bike accident Saturday that resulted in minor fractures above and below my left eye along with 8 stitches just below the left eye, badly bruised and very sore left shoulder and "possible" fractured right wrist (don't know why it's still "possible" when the x-rays were clear??!!) which is in a removeable splint for the next two weeks. Sooooo I can't train, I'm already beside myself and feel fat oooozing on as I type. I'm hoping for some ideas so as not to lose everything I've gained. Here's what I was doing up till last Friday:
Five day lifting split:
Mon. back & abs
Tues. chest & calves
Weds. legs
Thurs. shoulders, traps, abs
Fri. bi's and tri's
I had been doing cardio 4 times/week for 30min and was working my way up to 4times at 60 mins. I dropped cardio back about a month ago on the theory that I was too well conditioned to see fat loss at 5 times/week for 45-60 min. because I wasn't seeing any loss. (maybe wrong, but I was willing to try - so the cardio is coming back up).
Within the last 2 weeks I dropped calories back to 1500 at a 55 carb/35 pro/10 fat split in 5 meals. I was finally starting to see some slooow fat loss.
So I imagine it'll be about 2 weeks before I can lift upper body. Legs are unscathed but I don't want to go nuts till my head heals a bit (no concussion or anything but the left side of my face is bruised and swollen).
What or how much can I do in the meantime, and how should I make my comeback? Where do you think I should keep my calories? I wouldn't mind dropping a few pounds in the meantime - I've been able to put lean weight on without too much difficulty. My body fat is at 18 and I was working it toward 14, which I still want to do. I'm 5'6', 144 lbs.
I appreciate any and all ideas!
