I just ate this chocolate bar type thing I got in some faggy gift basket from the corporate housing company we deal with. It was in a silver wrapper, with KENTUCKY DERBY 133 written on it in blue..it was made by a company named Blue Monday. It was covered in chocolate, but had this creamy white stuff in the middle that kind of tasted like chocolate chip. Is this what a Derby Pie tastes like?

Want to get something funny? The Louisville Candy company makes bourbon balls (do you know what those are) and they named them "Happy Balls." I saw that and cracked up. I met the owner and he showed me bourbon balls with a pecan on top and he said, "I cause these my "Drunken Nuts." I was the only person laughing, but I thought I was going to pee my pants.

Derby pie is soooo good honey. I'll have derby pie with fresh whipped cream and mint juleps for the non-pregos tomorrow.

I dunno if I'm gonna make it tomorrow, but I will certainly try.

Happy Balls? Not sure I would go there from an oral standpoint, but I think I understand the sentiment behind the name.

The owner's wife is nicknamed "happy."

bourbon balls are so gross that it is hard to even imagine. They are bourbon spiked creme center balls dipped in chocolate. Oh God, they are so terrible. :sick:

Sounds like what I just ate, minus the bourbon....it wasn't that bad though...I think it was the first time this year that I ingested candy of any sort.

The bourbon ones are so spiked with bourbon that it tastes like you just took a shot. My grandma used to make coconut balls dipped in chocolate at x-mas. One year when I was about 9 she made bourbon balls too and sat them on the same plate. I was expecting coconut and got bourbon. I turned green.

Nah, you really should try one some time. Oh God, the best pie in the world. It is sort of like a cross between a pecan pie and a chocolate chip cookie minus the pecans. It is difficult to explain but is pure heaven!

When I was in the Bahamas, they had these little rum cakes that were so good it was crazy. I have had rum cakes here in the south, but I have to admit that the bahamian ones are better.

That sounds like what we call Kentucky Pie. It's like pecan pie with chocolate chips and it's served warmed and a la mode
