heart attack at 28

Questions about correlation of having a heart attack and recently ending a cycle....

Husband..28, otherwise healthy, no medical history, first true cycle, he did a cycle of dbol 5 years ago with no pct or any real dosing(yeah he wasnt smart then so I did the research for him this time) He just finished his cycle about 1.5weeks ago, he had a heart attack monday morning....

10week cycle
200mg test prop 3x/wk
not sure but I think 200mg tren ace 3x/wk
T-3 25mcg tapered up to 50mcg throughout cycle and upon ending cycle he lowered to 25, currently at 25 then 1 more week down to 0
Aromasin 20mcg throughout

currently doing pct-his buddy hooked him up with this not sure what hes taking, but I know hes still taking aromasin but at 30mcg/day, its week 2 of pct

he just had a heart attack on monday morning...is this from coming off a cycle and things being out of whack?? or no correlation at all?? Is there other things he needs to add to help him? He didnt use anything for liver like milk thistle, etc, no gyno, more of a recomp this cycle, lost some bodyfat and kept/gained muscle.

please dont flame me lol, it was hard enough getting him to follow a proper diet while using, let alone taking all precautions for pct and throughout cycle. I want advice and/or comments on if the heart attack was related to the steroids. thanks

pretty sure its unrelated

why do you say this??

at 28, there's a pretty good chance they ARE related. He could have been overweight, which could of attributed as well. Steroids are going to raise your BP and do many other things. especially if he was on tren. A heart attack at the age of 28 right after a steroid cycle.. how do you not connect those two?

He obviously has a history of this in his family. At that young of an age , its hereditary. I would
CEASE any further cycles now and forever until you can find out why he is having heart attacks at the age of 28. He needs to concentrate on diet, cardio and weight lifting without steroids because he is not genetically able to handle them. Good Luck

Agreed with the above post. Steroids don't help the situation any but he has a genetic predisposition to heart problems that needs to be understood.

The two reasonable cycles during his lifetime didn't bring on this heart attack...terrible genetics were at play here, and are the main cause. Would have to know more about the origin to pinpoint (structural anomaly in the heart? arterial blockage from cholesterol?), but it's highly doubtful that the elevated BP caused by this cycle for a ten-week period would have been enough by itself.

Many factors involved but 200mgs of test prop for a rook is NOT recommend especially when stacked with Tren. If he is overweright, there is a study that explains how the body will respond unfavorably to high exogenous androgen intake. In other words, get in shape before touching AAS.

minor effect on bp for that short of a duration is not going to cause a heart attack at 28 is what I'm saying, its mostly a genetic thing if he is having heart attack that early.

AAS will raise your bp, mess up your kidney/liver values, raise your bad cholesterol, lower your good cholest. etc etc. don't believe me? run a blood test during your next cycle then get back to me.

having said that he was not healthy before running AAS.. even if he wasn't overweight his heart health could of been poor due to bad lifestyle decisions (work stress, lack of heart healthy exercise, poor diet)

when you run AAS you need to make sure you are healthy before. especially if you are gonna play with fire and run something like 600mg per week of tren ace. this is an example that yes AAS CAN KILL YOU. this is why we stress on this board young dudes and out of shape guys (whether out of shape skinny or fat) do not mess with AAS.

he has been off cycle but it will take time for all his panels to get back to normal. do me a favor and post his blood test results if you can. I will bet he has a lot of things out of whack. it will take time.

when you are on tren I also recommend running liver support and immune system support. tren is no joke. i've been on it for 3 weeks and I cannot imagine anyone who is out of shape running this stuff. its absolute hell, thankfully I have the experience to understand this and I was in great shape before the cycle and I have been able to avoid the harsh sides. my bp yesterday was 130/75. not bad at all. this would explain why I haven't had the insomnia that everyone complains about. on the contrary I am sleeping like a baby. insomnia and being tired is an early sign of high bp when you are on cycle so watch out for that.

Did he not get a diagnosis from the hospital? Like Coronary Artery Disease?
The main thing is to focus on treating this, getting the right medication, and his cardiac rehabilitation.
Most likely he should stop taking anything that might interact with his medication. Adding in sups that his doctor is unaware of could be deadly.
Now that he has scar tissue on his heart, he will be have to be more careful with what he puts in his body.
My husband got heart failure last year at 32 and had to have a heart transplant, and the doctors said it was from a virus, and not from his steroid use.
Your husband should be honest with the doctors and ask them whether the steroids could have caused the right conditions for a heart attack. Just so you are not guessing, and know the truth.

I would definitely agree here as well as IMO 200mg of tren ace is a little much as well, should be more like 100mg EOD which would b a max of 400mg per week.....tren ace is heavy stuff n 600mg per week is borderline overdose from my experience.....I would also agree with the genetics replies.....that much tren ace with test prop per week is for sure gonna raise BP to a scary level which for sure could b a factor especially with his possible family n genetic history of heart attacks......good luck n keep him of the AAS forever......

Sorry to hear about that, I hope he can get healthy through all this.

I can't add much to what always has been posted. I would like to just wish you both the best and hope that he has a healthy recovery. Considering that you are the one posting, that you seem to have really looked out for him during his cycle, you gave him suggestions and did the research, I think that your husband is extremely lucky to have you in his life. Best of luck!

Dear girl, based on the quoted paragraph, it doesn't really matter what caused the heart attack, tell your husband that the combination of screwed up hormones, bad genes and periodically shitty eating habits caused it and if he wants to live long enough to hit the half century mark he better get his act together and care more about his health than his appearance.

At least that's what I'd do if it was my husband.

I had a friend who died suddenly of a heart attack at 29, and he had done cycles, and was in excellent shape (competitive surfer, healthy lifestyle & eating habits, etc). Turns out his little brother had died suddenly at 17 of a heart attack, and shortly after, so did their mother at 50-x. I had at first thought the juice was to blame, but neither the little brother nor the mother had ever messed with hormones nor did they do any bodybuilding, etc. Nobody knows why they died, but I now doubt that the AAS had anything to do with it.

Anything is possible, but if I were you, I would really get to the bottom of the cause, and that might involve some cash and time. Maybe even book an appoinment at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas, which in the view of cardiologists (and also my view), is the very best in the world. They actually cause you to have a heart attack in the examining room if indeed you have a problem, and map out the cause. Sounds scary, but it's actually very safe.

I wish your husband the best recovery, and I hope that you and he will find the cause, and put in place whatever is needed to prevent future problems... And live a full and healthy life.

Charles

Did I read that he added T3 to his second cycle ever?

Why?

?

yeah cannot disagree with any of that but I think we can all agree that 600+ tren ace per week and T3 cannot be good for the heart.

I would hope that his cycle use was mentioned to the physicians taking care of him. These are questions for a professional that know his past medical hx, family hx, current medications, full blood workup, assessment/physical etc....

Welcome to elite, don't worry about being flamed i won't tolerate it here, I'm sorry about your hubby ,half of this mess starts most of the time when someone tells him to take so & so and he will get muscle & burn fat ,those people should be shot.

Now the best thing he can do is recover slowly until all tests are in to see where he stands, maybe start out with short walks, when he is able ,get him on a light training routine. He can look good if he dials in his diet.

This should help

thanks for all the responses...yes every man in his family has died by the age of 50, his dad is 48 and has had 5 heart attacks..

it was very mild, and no the doctors didnt go into any details-they put him on prilosec and they ran a bunch of tests I will post when we get them back

Yes an aggressive beginners cycle-I KNOW..hey Im his wife, i can only control so many things...I got it "down" to just those two with some reasoning-and also because of his family history I wouldnt let him take clen for the heart related issues

I came on here because I like advice from this site, and also because of his job he cant talk to the doctors about steroids, we may consult with an out of network doctor and discuss things depending on the test results and what the doctors say-to me prilosec isnt gonna cut it, but his cholesterol and triglycerides were high in the past, and I know he had blood pressure issues because he was always complaining about being dizzy and headaches.

Ive tried putting him on one of my diets and supplements like Needtoslin(which I love btw) Im not making excuses but his bodytype is really weird...hes extremely skinny in the legs and his stomach always looks really soft and bloated-fat-I think 36in? But his butt/hip cirumference would be like 30in:) I KNOW hes never been under 15%bf just by looking at him you can tell. but his upper body and arms are really good size 19in arms.
--Ive tried the palumbo diet for him, also just a general low carb approach with 2 beverly style refeed meals per week, nothing seems to be helping get him in better shape..What other diets can I put him on? Im currently doing 40/30/30 and sitting comfortably at about 14%bf, I have no problems with getting and staying in shape, him on the other hand, Im lost.

To most everyone on this site it is obvious the steroids were a bad idea, but somehow he cant connect steroids to having ANY negative sides, he had bad acne and was suprised when I suggested the steroids were causing it, I guess Im here to try and clean up the damage, also to note that maybe this will be a good example for those not ready for AAS to take more precautions, but sadly the people who need to hear a story like this are not the ones here, its the vets who have the knowledge and experience reading this thinking WOW, another one...

Yes WOW! I have over 35 yrs in this field, I've seen it all ,and yours is no different, what he needs is not a diet but healthy foods with measured Portion sizes served several times a day ,read all of my thread about building muscle and loosing fat!

I can tell you this about steroids
to someone who has never or just started working out
1- Yes they will raise your cholorestrol levels
2- Yes they will stress your immune system
3- Yes they will raise your Blood Pressure
If you're not an athlete ,Yes they are unhealthy to take!

My fiance is a physician and I'm an RN. I mentioned this to her and we both agree that he shouldn't be taking ANYTHING unless under the supervision of a physician. I mean nothing, even something as simple as creatine. His family cardiac history is one of the worst I have heard of. His genetic lifeline ends at 50 unless he is VERY VERY careful about his health and what he's putting into his body. He should even be on a strict cardiac diet even now. I would advise him to stop trying to 'bulk' on muscle and stick to a regimented cardio schedule. His heart is his most important muscle in his body and he needs to pamper the shit out of it.

You sure that's all the doctors put him on? An acid reflux drug?
My husband was misdiagnosed with an ulcer for a couple months by more than one ER doctor, and put on rabeprazole (another acid reflux drug like prilosec) and ondansetron (nausea drug) before they realized that the nausea and severe pain in his stomach was in fact an enlarged liver and the beginning of kidney failure because his organs were so engorged with fluid backed up from his heart. We knew it was his heart failure, and had to repeatedly tell the ER doctors that he needed to see a cardiologist.
Has your husband been seen by a cardiologist? Don't be afraid to take charge and ask for details, you are your husband's best advocate right now.

Your husband needs a BETTER doctor. If he has to trek to the nearest teaching hospital, do that.

There are many things that can cause heart disease, and yes, there are genetic causes of "sudden heart failure." The only practical thing you can do is you and your husband need to educate yourselves and understand the causes, understand what caused HIS issues, and he MUST take care of himself. Honestly, this is one case where a vegetarian diet (with a strong emphasis on raw foods) and endurance cardiovascular exercise might be part of the prescription. He might need to give up size and bulk for longevity.

No when I say what diet I dont mean precontest diet or anything..I mean diet for overall health and to keep him in shape and or improve his body composition. No crash diets or anything of the like.

Yes they only gave him prilosec, actually they want him on prilosec for 1 month then zantac after that, like it really matters. But we are dealing with army doctors, and anyone whos had to deal with that knows they dont actually help you.

Another thing about his doctors is he doesnt get the actual results..I need to force him to go and get them, the doctors dont want to give him any physical labwork they just want to "assure" him by what they are saying. but the doctor called this morning and suprisingly all of his bloodwork is great(yes I know doctors have different standards as to what they consider great) except for his thyroid, it is extremely low, which is hard to believe because he is currently on T3. He is cycling off of it so we can have the thyroid retested, and yes the doctor knows he was using this.

Tren also messes with thyroid right? so possibly having a previous hypothyroid condition and using tren on top of that could caus heart failure/stroke or coma.

Umm, see my previous post.

let me give you some advice about doctors. its not just army docs like you say that are not helpful. its 95% of docs. if this doc is not doing their job then find another one cause this is something serious, even if its not covered on your insurance or military plan.

He needs a low sodium diet to control his blood pressure and take strain off of his heart.
Low sugar too, to lower triglycerides.
You can find sodium counts on food labels, and here is a guide to eating low sodium.
Healthy living - The DASH Diet to lower blood pressure - Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada

We stopped adding any salt to all food, and did not eat cheese, bread, cured meats, pickles, olives, restaurant food unless it was a low sodium item, or any item that had more than about 100 mg of sodium. We aimed at a diet that had less than 1000 mg sodium a day. But that was ordered by the doctor, you may want to start with under 2000 mg.
You can buy low sodium ketchup, salsa, Mrs. Dash for seasoning, low sodium bread, and make your own low sodium marinades and sauces.
It would help if you followed the same diet when you are around him so he doesn't feel more deprived.
Healthy living - Healthy Eating - Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada

It would help if they did an echocardiogram to look at his heart, an angiogram, and a MUGA scan. Ask about getting those done.

Here is a little information that you may want to read about recognizing the symptoms of a heart attack if he has another one:

Heart disease - Heart Attack Warning Signs - Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada

No, not intentionally skipping over your posts..they were noted. Yes, the endo will know when we go on the 8th about the previous steroid history, I did forget that he also ran a prohormone back in Nov.

Asking for it..no..but taking the use of AAS very lightheartedly..yes..

He had the EKG,x rays and all the other tests they do on the heart, no other treatment will be given until he sees the endo, and even then they will prob run all the tests again and go from there.

Was he taking 200mg tren 3x/week? Probably not, but that was my guess on the dosage based on the way he set up the cycle.

He is eating what I eat, and thats low sodium, Mrs dash or some sea salt for seasonings, organic produce, Ezekiel products, and obvious things like no processed foods, and sugarfree condiments like ketchup, etc. He could go easier on the cheese though..

Thanks for the responses and helpful answers fr. fellow bbers on here

That's not a low-sodium diet.
