This poll is totally useless. You will never get an idea here of how many people have suffered liver damage from orals mainly because the people who did usually give up using steroids when they get sick and never start again.
These threads are dangerous and misleading, because only the gungho type of people with attitudes such as: "it could never happen to me", "side effects of orals are overrated" etc - seem to post in them, thereby giving a very slanted view on the topic.
Wake up people! The dangers are very real and happen to a great many individuals who usually don't come back here to post. Often embarrassment is enough to keep them from posting and an unwillingness to deal with the people who chastise them for being stupid...which, to be honest, is the truth in most cases (and mine). People who come down with liver trouble are usually not the most knowledgeable of steroid users.
I've suffered liver damage and it was 2 months of living hell. Fortunately I pulled through ok and regained my health. I learned a lot, and my biggest lesson was to respect the liver because when it packs it in, you're life is not worth living.
I no longer use orals, but even on injectables I get a liver panel done every month. For oral users I would suggest keeping a very close eye on bilirubin. That alone is a good enough indicater as to how the body is handling them. If that gets to the high end of normal, it's time to stop orals.
