Has HIV improved your way of life?

Great Attitude BBB! I'm str8, very happly married and work as a "Risk Reduction Specialist". Ignorance comes in all forms, if people werent so hung up on worrying about what goes on behind closed doors with two consenting adults and instead of forming opinions based on how people treat one another, there would be less of a problem. On that HIV is a Hetrosexual Disease (Str8 persons) not a Gay!

Welcome aboard....love is love, no matter what form it comes in. HIV is HIV and knows no difference.

It sure has improved my life. I was killing myself at my more-than-full-time job and I learned how to slow down and to take care of one's body. Thanks! Alan.

I know what you mean Alan....stress was a huge risk taker....I had to cut all that out. So today, I don't let things bother me anymore. I just take things as they come.

I think ALOT of people dont REALLY live life until they are faced with death...:(

Sometimes it takes GREAT adversity for someone to see that they arent living life as fully as maybe they had hoped to...In that essence I can see how it would make ones life better (atleast ones "zest" for life :))

so how did u get it? sex or aas usage?

Nobody gets it through AS usage :o
(unless you are dumb enough to share needles with someone, but one would have to be a moron to do that :o)

I would bet that 100% of the people here got it via unprotected sex or blood transfusion...

I know this sounds strange, but how has you life changed since you were diagnosed with HIV?
For me, it has improved. I take much better care of myself. After some years it brought me into bodybuilding. So my physical appearance has improved. I'm not the skinny guy anymore. Which is great, because I can now find clothes that fit...hahaha
If it weren't for the HIV I would not have found the love of my life. It has brought me great happiness and hope for a fantastic life with someone that loves me for me.
I have a greater understanding for life in general. In the begining I faced death head on, and fought back. 14 years later here I sit typing this question to all of you. Wow....what a journey this has been.

You have a great attitude. You remind me a lot of my brother who is HIV positive. He handles it better than I do worrying about him so much.

I'll always send happy thoughts your way. :bigkiss:

BBB, sometimes it does take something dramatic (or traumatic) for people to realize they need to look at things in a different light. I am glad to see that you are taking the high road with this one.

May I ask how long have you known your current status? Was it just being HIV+ that started your new attitude, or was it a combination of things?

Either way, keep at it. And it's nice to see some of the EF regulars post up here. Great attitudes all around. Even if you don't "get" it, at least you're supportive
