Hamstring Soreness

AirWolf

New member
Been doing an HST program MWF and doing 60 or so min on the elliptical 2-3 times per week. For some reason my hamstrings never seem to completely recover. At any point in time when I'm sitting down and flex them, they get that feeling like they are about to cramp up. Is this normal? I stretch them several times a week.

Anything I can do to speed their recovery or loosen them up a bit? The rest of my body recovers from the workout load just fine.

Sounds like they just may be a weaker link than the surrounding muscles... once they're conditioned and come up to "par" they shouldn't be sore as often at least...

And streching "several times a week" ... try streching several times a DAY :) You'll be loose as a goose in no time :coffee:

Thanks guys - I'll start stretching more often.

Is it worth adding any isolation work for them? Any recommendations?
My leg workout currently includes: Deads, Straight-leg deads, squats, and light lunges.

SLDL should be enough "isolation" strech and pull for them.

IMO: No, they get enough work already... in a few weeks of consistancy all around (lifting, streching, eating well) they should be less of a bother.

Been consistent for close to 2 years now...Added lunges like 2 months ago which has probably added a bit more strain.

What do your squats look like? For me touching my balls tot he floor gives my hammys a great stretch.

What's up in Austin bro?

Well below parallel - not quite balls to the floor, but I'm getting closer.

Starting a new job downtown in a couple weeks so it looks like I'm gonna have to find a new gym - where are you at now?

squating for 2 years... damn... get ATF already :p

I guess it could take time to get aclimated to the lunges...but streching ....morning, noon, and night would make a huge difference if you only do it occasionally.

And the active recovery as Nate stated could also help.
