Gym Choices - Opinion's Please

Guys,

There is a brand new gym opening down the road which will open early mornings that suits me fine the only trouble is my training buddy (2 yrs) Doesn't want to join and prefers this other gym close to his place (15min bike ride) which has old equipment but still is a pretty good gym.

I just dont know what to do? He is training with another dude now which is a bit of a kick in the guts but i guess im willing to bike it over there but at the same time this new gym is farking fresh 3 min walk and brand new equipment and will have body attack, body pump and cycle that i can do before work for cardio.

I just dont want to join a new gym and be stuck without a training partner because frankly my mate pushes me hard and i wouldn't be where i am without him!

What should i do bros?

if hes training with another partner whats the point of going? ... you can always find another training partner..i found my training partner at the gym..wicked guy..awesome bro...
theres alot of guys that go to the gym without a partner and end up coming out with one..ive made alot of friendships threw the gym...give it a shot..join for a month see how it is..
or just drop in for a few days..and if its not worth it ..go back

If it's closer, has newer equipment, and probably a lower cost per month, then why not. Maybe do a week trial?
I lift by myself and have great workouts everyday. I go waaay to quickly for anyone else, which sucks. But back in school we used to have insane training days! Our rests were waaaay too long tho. We did get seriously strong tho.
Ya if your buddy is training with someone else, then why not? it's ultimately up to you.

Yeah thanks guys. Both gyms are the same price but the one closer to me i have to sign up on a 12 month contract which is the only downer. I still cant make up my mind raaaah!

agreed

Your training partner is cheating on you? That shit aint cool! lol.
Also, signing up for a 12 month contract might be good.. motivate you not to stop, so your not wasting your money.

Just go to the gym, there will be others there by themselves you can train with. I know at my gym I go around the same time usually so its the same guys there most of the time. If anyone needs a spot or anything we got no problems helping each other out.

I have relocated many times in the past 15 years and found that every time I join a new gym I am VERY motivated and have killer workouts. It is a combination of the new environment, equipment, women and wanting to show off or stand out a little to strangers. As long as the equipment you want and need is available there, and it isn't ridiculously crowded at your training time, I'd say go for it. Changing up your training routine may be a great kick in the ass towards your goals.

Also, having a gym just down the street is perfect! You can crawl home on leg days instead of riding your bike.

Lets look at the obvious............what kind of gym is it? What is the name? If it is a PF or a modern "no grunting" gym you may want to steer clear of this new place anyway. There is no place in serious training for a "Lunk" alarm mentality.

I also workout by myself. Occasionally, I workout with my brother and I feel like it just slows me down. When other people try to motivate me, it seems like it just breaks my concentration. The only advantage I've noticed is I don't have to stop at that last rep I know I can get and I can go 1 further because if I fail, I have somebody to get the weight off me.

I agree there is always someone at my gym for a spot.
