maybe im a little confused, but I have trouble reaching my delt with the opposite arm, I just think the delt would be much more painful than the glute.
all I have is 1.5"23g pins, im interested in trying the quad out. How far should I go in being sure that its deep in the muscle without being too deep.

1" is indicated for quads. Here's what you do with the 1.5" pins. With the needle still in the cap, measure and mark a spot on the cap 1" down (from the tip of the needle inside the cap). Take the cap off, cut it at the mark and put the remainder of the cap back on. This technique will allow you to create a needle of whatever size you want, plus, I believe that it helps with keeping the needle a little steadier. Someone posted this awhile back, I used it to create a 7/8" needle for my delt injection last night.
Both times I've hit quads, I've hit nerves. I don't like that area so far...

It's not too bad to reach, I just braced my shooting arm against my body and a wall corner (to keep my hand steady) and let my injection arm dangle and angled the delt in towards my shooting hand and stuck. Aspirating was pretty tough though.
25 mm (~1") is indicated for delt injection in normal adults. They use 16 mm (~5/8") in children. Longer lengths are indicated for obese people. I figured that my bodyfat was lower and my muscle mass is larger than normal adults so I could get away with shaving 1/8" off -- it probably wouldn't have made any difference by the time it was in, I just did it because I could.
Honestly, I don't feel much pain in either site. For me, glutes are harder to hit because of the twisting around and scar tissue there.
glutes for test, quads for stuff that doesnt hurt as much(I use vet). I do delt injections on my current cyc but they keep bleeding quite a bit(I have been trying new methods and having some luck).
I started with glutes, but began to use other sites as my cycles got more complicated and voluminous. Quads, delts, calves(inner and outer), triceps, and biceps. I have come to like quad shots the most since they are easiest to aspirate and control bleeding if any.
