Grip work?

Anyone do any grip work here? I can see how this can be a very practically and usefull tool to have a very strong grip. After my San shou class (Martial art) I do some neck work cause the gym is right next to it and im thinking about doing some grip work during that day also. Any suggestions?

You know I actually have a good time with forearm/grip work. A buddy and I would simply go to a squat cage (when no one needed to use it) and hang on either end of the top of the cage until one of us fell off. Loser had to buy dinner. We are both around 230lbs and eat like we are 330lbs, so needless to say those were some sick forearm workouts ;)

Load a bar with your body weight and do 3-4 sets of holding it for as long as you can.

Doesnt sound too hard, maybe if i picked it up.... :)

go to ironmind.com they have tons of special grip tools including the captains of crush grippers they are made in the 1-4 i bet u cant close the 1 more than 5 times the first time u try

if you want grip work do this. i have a friend who is a world armwrestling champion and they do drills with a rope which is hanging from a tree. not a big one just maybe 1.5" in diameter. they climb it by grabing it in reverse where the thumbs are pointing down instead of the way one would normally climb a rope. i hope i'm explaining this right to understand. they do this at the begining of every training day. trust me aside from weights this is the ticket. a three time world champion can't be wrong.

My dad was an old time strongman and held the grip record on the machine (@ 320 right handed) not the handgrippers but he did break the #3 captains of crush gripper and closed the #4.
but i would suggest the hand grippers because the machine uses the trap a little. Also try some "tearings" like decks of cards (work your way up of course) I love doing that for hand and forearm strength

another little tip u can squeeze the bar on you other workouts... benchpress, lat pulls, deads, curls and things like this squeeze it harder than u have to its a subconscious thing and your grip will greatly improve its a static workout it helps your brain connect with the muscles kai greene is always motivating the mind the CNS is greatly forgotten. i was taught this in high school football in out group there was 9th graders bench like 315lbs, squating like 505lbs, and deadlifting all the coach would allow on a 45 pound bar... which was 605lbs plus in time you'll be working your grip and don't even notice thing get a mouth peice gritting your teeth also helps to engage the fight or flight mode. and the weighted, hanging pull-up lock is great afterwards
