got these ducks in this pond behind my house

I used to raise ducks on the farm. They are darling. we fed them cracked corn. You can get a bag of duck chow from the farmer's market. (not making that up). Bread alone is not very nutritious for them. They will eventually come right up to you when they trust you. Sit down and don't make any sudden moves and sort of lead them closer with the food.

I hatched eggs in an incubator and the ducks would eat out of my hand and follow me around everywhere. I LOVE ducks.

Ducks are cool. We had pet ducks when I was growing up. They are smarter than you'd imagine if you weren't raised around them.
HR is right, they make chow specifically for ducks. We always got ours at Keplers feed and grain, but any feed store that caters to farm animals will do.

if you feed them alka seltzer they'll explode. then peta will come to your house and picket, the press will get involved and then your grandmother will call and say, " phaded, you were such a good little boy now you are a steroid monster and a duck killer. i saw it on CNN and you can never come over to my house again, you duck....exploder!!!" on second thought...do not feed them alka seltzer.

woke up this morning and there were 13 ducks were i had spread the cracked corn.. i can only watch em from inside my house.. the only 3 that aren't really scared of me is the mama and her 2 or 3 youngins..

but i had been feeding them bread for a few days..

seems like they'll eventually come around i think and hang out with me.

We had a baby duck when we were kids. We named him Oscar. Oscar was a cool little mofo. We let him go back into the park where we found him abandoned when he was just a little duckling once he got big enough to fend for himself.
