Good MP3-type player to use while running/riding bike?

iPod mos def, it's like a credit card 'i never leave home without it'. i have the 20g one and have about 1000 songs on it and it only has about 4.5g used up and as mentioned as before u can used it at home on your home entertainment system or in your car. it's light weight and smaller than the gateway mp3 player. the only thing is that the gateway mp3 player has a built-in radio. another plus is that if u have a current college id you can get the 20g iPod for about 20 bucks more than the smaller iPod.

The new 20 gig iPods have a 15-hour battery life and a color screen.

However, I would NOT recommend this for those who are running/jogging. It's great for working out in the gym (stationary bike, lifting, etc.), rollerblading, walking, and everything else, but the constant jarring from running while on a treadmill or jogging outdoors will eat the battery life up and might damage the hard disk.

If you plan on doing a lot of bouncing/jarring type movements (primarily jogging), then I highly recommend the iPod Shuffle.

I actually have both. I never leave home without my iPod (I just bought a new one today after 3 years of an old style iPod). It's great on the train, plane, etc. When I'm in the gym, I use the iPod. I have over 1,600 songs on it. If I'm running (or doing those ridiculous long ass runs with the SWAT team), I use the iPod shuffle.

Or a much better player with a display that uses PlayforSure for even less.

Like what? I haven't found one yet. Anyway, I use mine for running so I don't need a screen. I have used different mp3 players and none compare with my shuffle. I just stick to the back of my hat and I'm ready to go.

Problem with the shuffle/Ipod - no all-you-can-eat subscriptions available - that's only available with the playforsure system.

I have a mini disk player. A guy in Okinawa owed me money he didn't have so he traded me his mini disk player. They got for about a $100, hold a shit load of music on one disk, and don't skip at all.

Me too. When I got mine the other players didn't have alot of storage. Compared to my pc, where I have all my cd's stored. This way I make mixes that I like (like we all did with tapes, from records). I've dropped it from my desk while listening and no skippage. But with the Ipods that have so much storage now, when I need a new one thats prob the way I'll go, and have all my mixes on hand, no disks to change.

I have a sony rio. I went out and got rechargable batteries because all MP3 players love to eat them. I cannot remember how much I paid for it. I went out and got a 1GB SD card for $50 and it has been through hell and back and is still kickin - and the batteries have lasted over 2 years. Cheaper and more durable than iPods!
