Girls Weight loss diet

Pammi69

New member
Hey everyone...
I am BigpoppaDrews sister who he posted the message for about weight loss. I joined the boards myself and am looking forward to advice from everyone. I am trying to lose weight right now and i go to the gym around 2-3 days a week...will be going 4-5 days once i get my license and a car which will be soon i hope. I am really enjoying it but i am wondering if anyone has a good routine that involves weights one day cardo the next. Any suggestions for anything else would be great!

Hi Pammi! Welcome to the boards! (Seems we share a "69" together LOL!) The question you are asking is a big one and you will need to take in a lot of information, try a few things and decide for yourself what works best for your goals and your lifestyle.

A good general approach for someone who is new to the gym scene is the Body for Life book (Bill Phillips). Also you can do a lot of reading on the diet & training boards.

And let's see what else this thread brings from our knowledgeable ladies.....

let me start by saying CANADIANS rock (hehe, now when you get your license you can drive me to the gym too :) j/k)

welcome to the boards... umm... lots of good info here... i think you basically summed up what you want to do... just get out there and do it... there are so many different ways you can split a routine, you don't need to follow any particular one, especially when starting out, that's what makes it fun... just go in there and do some exercises, play with a few different splits and see what you like to do... a few ideas would be

upper body
cardio
lower body
cardio

or

legs
cardio
back and bis
cardio
shoulders chest and tris

or any combination of the above two...

vary it up and find stuff that works for you... watch other people in the gym and the exercises they do, get a trainer if you can for a few sessions to help show you the ropes on the free weights and get in there and lift...

goodluck, and keep reading
phem

Thanks

Hey thanks for writing back guys... ya right now i am really starting to get into the whole work out thing...especially when i get my license cause i will be able to go hardcore...i like my program so far...i am going to change it up though soon cause its good to keep it changing as your strength changes and stuff to keep it exciting...i entered a contest at my gym to win a fat loss program..its a 6 week program, 18 personal trainer sessions (3 days a week), personal program, diet plan, food journal, meal planning and workout tips. You get your weight taken, measurements and everything at the beginning and then at the end. It is 100% guaranteed...typical results for women is 9-12 lbs of fat loss, and 5-7 inches off waist, legs, and arms. I think i have a good chance of winning it so i am really excited cause it would be perfect for me. Well i will keep everyone posted...

sounds great Pammi and welcome! :wavey:

So glad you decided to join the boards. You will definitely find everything you want and things you didn't even know you were looking for?!?

I am sure you will accomplish your goals and this is a great place to make them happen. We all are trying to achieve different personal goals and it's great to have such a great resource here.

:)

My big suggestion is go to a trainer for a few sessions so that you can learn proper form! It's really hard to pick up from a book, and without it your progress will be slowed or even completely stalled if you injure yourself. Your gym may have a free session with a trainer dealy, which you should definetly take advantage of. Otherwize, you can probably ask for pointers from trainers that are milling around, I know there are usually some at my gym. Finally, if there's no way to get it for free, pay, it's well worth it in the long run. $50-$200 is definetly worth it to prevent injuries.

6 weekf of clean nutrition & proper trainng will give you some good results... glad to see you have the food log & beginning stats in your plan... Good luck- hope you win and.. welcome! :D

Good luck on the contest and welcome to the board.

Since you're so young and new to the sport, I would suggest an all body routine every other day, rest on weekends and do cardio alternating days. Being a newbie and sub-20 is one of the best times for muscular gains.

Cycle or walk to the gym and get cardio in then. When I see people driving to the gym then getting on the treadmill it really annoys me !
