I have to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth yanked on Tuesday! Anyone else have their wisdom teeth out? how was it?

Yes, all four, all at once, when I was 17. My experience was very atypical and I'll spare you the details. For the vast majority of people it's pretty straightforward. Just get knocked out and make sure you have a ride home. They'll give you good drugs afterwards. Piece of cake.

i ain't NEVER getting mine out. EVER!!! my moms friends daughter got hers taken out (all 4) and she died a few days later of a blood clot. it's a freak occurrence that doesn't happen often at all but still... mine are are laying down too.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Why are you getting them done now? Most people's wisdom teeth erupt in their late teens to early 20s. If there's something wrong with them, or they'll mess your other teeth up, they usually yank them when they start coming in.
Like I said, my case is different from other people. My wisdoms hadn't even begun to come in, I have tight teeth with very little room in my mouth and the wisdoms were not positioned correctly. It would have been a mess so the teeth were surgically extracted before they even began to come in.

I'm 28 and have not gotten them out. My dentist told me That I only will get 2 and not 4. Just genetics...
Thank god for my genetics in every way, I'm fuggin lucky. Everyone lives really old and everything in my family. No big diseases really, healthy hearts etc.

I was 17 or 18 when I had mine out. 2 had come out already and they had to dig the other 2 out. I got the gas and apparently was hitting on one of the dental assistants when I was loopy. My face didn't swell or bruise, and I didn't have any problems at all. Good luck!

I had mine out when I was 30 face swelled up like I had a mouthful of chessnuts and couldn't move my jaw for 3 days face went black and blue. It all depends on the way your teeth are in the mouth sideways, impacted, straight up and down, under the gum. It is different for each persons.
Not my favorite thing todo though. Right up there with being kicked in the nuts.

I had one wisdom and a molar out in 07, surgically removed under sedation. Took me about 3 or 4 days and I was fine, no dry socket, no infection, nothing. It was great!
3 weeks ago I had 2 other wisdoms with surrounding molars removed due to the wisdoms coming in sideways (impaction) and killing the molars. I had the majority of the work done on my right side as in 07 I had one wisdom n molar on left done. 1 week after left upper wisdom and molar I was able to eat on left side and felt no pain, looked like no surgery had been done....My right side, oh man! It looked like friggin trench mouth, land mines blew up on that shit. I ended up with dry socket though did not really know it. My upper right side is fucked, still today I cannot bend over, it hurts my sinus cavities..Went in for check up on 12/3 as I really thought I had infection. Surgeon said all is healing well, except I have exposed rigid bone which is common, it may heal on its own or he may end up having to shave the bone!! They left in one wisdom tooth but removed molar as wisdom had yet to near the gums, well it is now popping out CROOKED..So now I have to have that removed, yah me. I am still in pain, my jaw hurts, I cannot open my mouth all the way, it hurts to touch my face still..And for about 2 weeks after the surgery I looked like John McCain, my right side of my face was so dang swollen it sucked...
Anyways, I hope all works out for you! Remember if they give you antibiotics to take them all, remember no straws, and no smoking, and the salt water rinsing is great as it does help heal faster.

A co-worker had his done in his late 30s - NOT GOOD.
He seriously looked like this guy for 6 months.

I am getting them out becuase I have been getting headaches on and off for almost a year. The bottom two are impacted the upper two are not as bad. I hope I don't have some of the war stories that some of you do!

Here is mine, 3 weeks after the surgery I went in expecting to be told I had an infection. Well I didn't and don't..I do however have the wisdom tooth that was left in popping out now and it hurts as it started to come out sideways..I also had some exposed bone (not dry socket, just gums that were not covering the bone). So I go back on the 17th to see if the rigid exposed bone has chipped away and the gums healed, and also to see if the wisdom has straightened out. If not then I need to have the wisdom cut out and the bone shaved. Also my left side has bone chips coming out of the gums which is a tad painful but common. Other than that I am good to go.

Hey guys, thanks for asking...It was very rough a lot of blood and tough extraction. Apparently I was a real SOB while sedated and kept sexually harrassing the nurse and aparently I pulled her pants down! I am way blown out and keep bleeding. I just went back thinking I had infection and the doc squeezed the shit out of the extraction sites...OUCH! No pus just blood. I am cranky and hurting but okay overall.

If it starts hurting bad you will have to go back as like mine i had a dry socket, thst's where the hole doesn't heal and air is exposed to the nervers,Piece of cake they will plug it up and maybe give you a mild pain med.
Or you can do like i did on the 4th of july i broke a tooth all the Dentists office were closed, well the sharp edge kept cutting my tongue until it had swollen so big i couldn't swallow so i grab a flashlight, and a mirror grab my trusty Dremel with a cutting head and went to work on that sucker, Thats the truth, if the pain gets bad enough,a wild animal will knaw it's leg off getting out of a trap.

All 4 of mine were well erupted and came out in about 5-10 minutes total. Completely painless and awesome.

That is not good if you keep bleeding. Did your dentist say anything possibilities as to why you are still bleeding right now?
Man, I have never had to have a site "drained" but I heard that shit hurt. I can only imagine how that felt. I would be cranky too if I were you!

It was just a worse case scenario. My teeth were very wrapped into the nerve on my bottom jaw. I may have permanent numbness in my lower jaw and lip. The bleeding has stopped as of today. It was/is just a fucking mess. I went to the dentist every 6 months my whole life and that asshole never said anything! I am pissed!
