Mod for a Day...

At your chosing, once a week - you pick someone to be Mod for the day, so that over-time the long term members understand the day-to-day challenges of being an EF Mod. Of course you would chose wisely.

My business consulting fee is 10,000 k.

I dunno if a day woud be adequate... for a week might be more realistic to give someone a rough idea of how tough and thankless the job can be.
 
i think their should be a certain crew of "elite mods" who are permanent mods
the rest change every month...same idea as mm69's, but new mods every month via public voting.
and brr, just my opinion, it hurts mods credibillity when peeps with less than 100 posts are becoming mods just because they are "in" with certain sponsors

There is more to being a mod than just, locking, editing and moving threads. Many mods are chosen because of how they CAN and WANT TO help the forum members. So there is a lot of time spent researching, emailing, etc the board members to help them with whatever non-customer support questions/concerns they have.

THAT is the part that no one really sees, unless they have specifically gone to the mods for help.

And FINALLY, the mods are here for the most part to keep all of us SAFE. <---IMHO that is THE BIGGEST responsibility for a mod.
 
Everyone wants to be a mod, it's crazy, within 3 weeks everyone will forget that you were a member and you'll just be another dick head mod.

Personally, I have had no desire - I'm too nice and it wouldn't work for me.

However, there are those that are critical and this would give the management a tool to give that person an opportunity to show their "stuff".

I do it in the garbage business, kids say I didn't pick up this or that and hire them for the day, next thing you know - they dont' throw snowballs anymore at me.

I love how there are some mods that always complain about the hardships of Moderator responsibility.. Noone forced you to be a mod, quit bitching

you know how when they ask the question: if you knew you only have one week to live, what would you do?

and the answers usually are something like "I'd rape as many women as possible, I'd rob a bank", etc etc.....

Actually subby there is NO POWER at all, only headaches from a handfull of ASSHOLES... but when you get the knotes and emails/PM's from all of the people who you have helped in some way, it makes it all worthwhile.

A lot of you forget that chat is pretty much fun and games and the most "help" a mod can be is to try and quell negative situations. But for those that are mods on the other forums part of our responsibility it to help out other people who seek our advice ie diet/training/contest prep and other such issues. This takes sometimes hours upon hours. None of us gets paid for it. We do it because:

1. We can.

2. We WANT to.

I got so much from the helpfull people that shared their knowledge FOR FREE (meaning they made no money from taking the time to help me) back in the day that I don't mind investing some of my free time (God knows I have waaaaaaaaaaay too much) to help other people in kind.

Plus I admit that I get a tremendous amount of pleasure and satisfaction knowing that there are many people who I was of assistance to in some way, shape or form. <---- THAT is one of the main reasons why I do it.

LOL OK I never looked at it like that, but you are correct in this aspect. :)

...but that is something ANYONE can do. The mods just get asked more often and (I feel) it is our obligation, otherwise, I feel one should pass on the position.

I have no say in the matter Subby. :) A lot of us were actively participating and helpfull to the other board member BEFORE we were asked to mod and some just really "took off" once they accepted the position and still others get wrapped up in life and can't like they would like to.

Every case is different.
 
Being a Mod is not so much fun and game. It is also not bout power. You are expected to approach the site with a different view and your time here is spent serving the community.

I make their job a lot tougher too.

To be honest, the COTB have the best time here out of any. They have some Administrative options that exceed the Mod's and they have no responsibilities.

With that reasoning, if we got someone like Jay Cutler or Branch Warren to be a mod, it would hurt the credibility of the board because they haven't posted here?

I think I know who you are talking about, and they really know their stuff..............................

I was hoping that it would work the other way around. You know, that within 3 hours everyone would forget that I was just another dick head member and I'll be in a class with velvett.
