Fructose and r-ALA

Would r-ALA (Gluc. R, specifically) be able to force fructose into muscle somehow instead of chancing it being stored as fat? For that matter, what about lactose?

I'm asking because so many things contain high fructose corn syrup in them, and I like to drink loads of milk. Want to know if taking Gluc. R with them is beneficial, or if I should save it for other carbs.

As I see it, the uptake signal won't be as strong as for glucose (mediated directly via the insulin-sensitive GLUT4 transporter), but there may still be an increase in uptake of fructose. Some of the glucotransporters are "promiscuous", and will take up fructose in various proportions as well as glucose.

As for lactose, it's a disaccharide which is broken down in your gut to yield glucose (intake enhanced by R-ALA) and galactose (again, I would imagine that certain 'promiscuous' glucotransporters might increase their uptake rates in the presence of R-ALA).

Even so, the R-ALA will do your body good in so many ways I can't imagine not taking it.

Thanks Dr. M. It's just that I don't start working again for a few weeks, so I would rather conserve my current limited supply of the good stuff.
