Forearms

Wrong forum. Heavy compound exercises for the most part. As far as isolating the forearms hammer curls, pin wheel curls, reverse BB curls, wrist curls, etc

My weak forarms are the sole reason I'm not deadlifting as much as I should be. Shame with shrugs.

Don't let that limit you bro. Use straps. Even with straps you are still holding the weight. Your forearms are getting more stimulation than you think. Deadlifts can not be replaced in any program.

I agree w/ whoever said reverse bb curls. that should be enough, unless you are really behind and they look like pencils compared to your bi's.

when i was a young teenager i had forearms like popey. and i was the only kid on the wresteling team that could do like 30 reps on the grip exersizer. i was also the only kid that had to use the bathroom between every class.

so i would have to say masterbation like 10 times per day.

but serously my forearms keep up with out directly working them at all. i do a lot of static holds though.

Never done any really. Comes over time from heavy lifting. Benching, heavy pull downs, deads, heavy rows. Heavy juicing doesnt hurt either or at least staying on for a few months. Bout only thing I would do is some hammer curls but that seperation never really came till I started using heavier weights and stayed on for extended periods.

Yeah I know, deads are one of my favorite lifts. Just saying its frusterating because my grip is usually the first to give out from fatigue.

I think everyones grip goes when they get tired.. If you have to get some straps for the last set or 2.. Or do some grip strengthening excercises.

I'm kind of with Galaxy on this one. With the compound exercises and upper arm exercises, your forearms will get plenty of work, but you can isolate if your forearms are very difficult. Also, this is probably the wrong forum. Big BK can help out in the training forum if you go over there to look for some help.

IMO also, grip should not give way if you are trying to isolate biceps. I'm not sure if this is the case, but the grip should not become fatigued if you are isolating other bodyparts for work. Your grip requires far more work for nearly every exercise that you do (in the gym and out of the gym), so it should not become fatigued too easily. This is one of the reasons why calves need alot of work since you use them so much in standing and walking throughout the entire day (in the gym and not in the gym).

What do bros deadlift here? Im reletivly slender (6 ft, 195, 9%BF). My 5rm is 310 which I realise is pretty low.

For heavy weight I use hook-gloves. I realise I am sacrificing hand strength but their ir simply no way I could hold onto the bar otherfwise

I think static holds are very effective for hand strength....and dead hangs after pullups...for example after shrugs just hold the bar or barbells for as long as you possibly can. You will be surprised. And jack off a lot.

let's see, I haven't gone heavy on deads in a little while, but last time it was like 540 for 8 I think.

I have gone heavy recently on rack deads up to 725 for one pull.

Fuck thats alot of weight. My back just doesnt allow it. I can do reps on squats all day with 455lbs in the past. Then as soon as I go to 500lbs something just rolls and Im out of commission for a couple weeks. Same with deads. Anything over 455lbs and Im fucked up. I attribute it to my long trunk

I pulled 455 for 7 then 405 for 11 last Monday. 455 was previously my all time best 5RM. That was a big PR for me. I think maybe two guys beside me in my gym DL. When I pulled both of these sets there must have been 10 dudes watching me. You would have thought my head was on fire by the way they were looking at me. My boy pulled 500 for 3 reps at 180 yesterday. He is a competitive BB with two local shows under his belt. He is a young black dude with the genetics to go really far. He is natural too.
