flavored, carbonated water...is it ok?

I recently quit diet soda, and am trying out flavored, carbonated water...i usually shake it up and drink w/ ice to make it flat...no soidium content...it aint a dieuretic in any way like soda is it?....is there any downsides to drinking it?

I drink lime flavored crystal geyser sparkling water and can't give it up. I think overly carbonated drinks might interfere with protein absorbtion but I don't remeber the exact science of it.

It's the caffeine in soda that makes it diuretic - not the carbonation - so you should be fine in that respect.

What is it flavored with?

I don't know about carbonation interfering with protein absorption, but it seems possible as I seem to recall it being able to have a negative impact on joints. Also, if your flavored water is sweetened with Aspartame, it can be hard on your brain cells. Moderation, moderation, if that's the case.

thanx for the info...had to ease up on the diet soda...bloated my stomach too much and made me TOO damn full at meals...there are all kinds of flavors for the brand i drink...kiwi strawberry, white grape, cherry and such...it does contain citric acid i think and aspartame...some big no no's for ckd r's i guess...
