Flat Bench PR...videos...

b fold the truth

I have been sick off and on and swamped with school for a few weeks and have not done bench press in nearly 3 weeks :( I went and did some speed bench work on Friday and this is how it went...

PLEASE RIGHT CLICK AND 'SAVE TARGET AS'!!!!

Speed Bench Press
225 x 3 x 9 sets (mostly close grips), 45 sec rest between sets
315 x 1
430.5 x 1 PR!!!!! (old pr of 427)

I also did some light inclines, triceps, rotators, lats, and abs. When I finished this I went and did some LIGHT and FUN kicks and punches on my bag. :)

Right jabs, making Jordan bark mostly
Right ridge hand
Left side Blitz...SLOW!!!
Right round kick...for speed...

My chest sure is sore...lol.

That was strong and confident!
Pretty slow negative though?

It is actually a lot faster than I normally go on a 1RM...lol. I have a hard time taking a heavy weight down fast...I just don't feel strong that way. I have been working on taking it down a little faster than usual...but it will not be much faster than that rep was.

You should eb able to do more with a faster eccentric, but that's a lot more weight than I can comprehend on the bench so things maybe different there :)

Good Shit man, a pr just seems to make everything good that day.

Damn B, you didnt even look like you were working...
For what its worth, my negatives, even on sets look like that, if I lower it quicker it hurts my bicep tendons, plus I feel like I can isolate better with the slow negative

must be nice to hit a pr first time back after three weeks - im fuckin jealous! great work as always bro - im lookin forward to seeing vids from another fun sunday this week!

HOLY FUCK... that was a slow ride my man... that ... damn...

Solid. . . very solid. I bet your real max is somewhere near 450lbs.

That is the best bench press form I have seen in months!! Your whole body looked tight as you were concentrating on the lift.

You demonstrated complete control.

Good work!

Agreed. Most guys cheat in some way, especially on the big stuff. I didn't see one flaw. Well done CD. :)

Thanks everyone...I really feel that the more body movement that I have in the exercise...the less that I can do. The more control, the less body movement, the better the form...the more that I can lift.

I am still sore from Friday...lol.

i'd definitely say 440 is a more realistic max, though the form was textbook on that. better to be controlled then unsafe...especially under that kind of weight.

all in all, i'd say....

scary!!!:D

jesus! insane bench action brother. with no spotter too, man, yer a monster (in a good way) :D

where's your spotter? don't be bp maxing without a spotter. you know better.

I have my safety pins set up on my power rack...they have saved me on the bench more than once :). If I get stuck...I can drop it back towards my face and the safety pins will catch it.

lol, hopefully. my pins sometimes come out of the wholes when i hit them just the right way with my elbow mid-set. same thing with the bar hooks

I just lower it back down, and take the air of out my body, the bar weight does the rest and it rests on the pins, then I just push it away.

who needs safety bars? If I fail, I will scream like a comanche until someone lifts the bar off my chest.

I let the weight come crashing down onto my chest, that way I know I have reached failure. I will let heavy weight roll across my ab wall and pelvis until I get it into my lap, then I will roll the bar over my thighs until the barbell rolls over my knees and crashes to the floor.

I am joking folks!! Train smart;)
