Flaming Peeps and Verbal JuJitsu.

When you are attacked IRL or in a hostile situation and verbally jabbed at, how cool do you remain? Are you flame retardant and keep a cool head, or do you just go with the norepinephrine rush and amydala hijacking and unleash on your foe?

Have you gotten more reactive or less reactive through the years of maturation?
No right or wrong answer here.

Does the online communication differ than IRL for you? Do you express the same patterns IRL and Online?

Have your verbal skillz to take down and ground and pound foes increased or sharpened due to experience and, or online communication?

Just Curious.

That happened to me. Once.

People still talk with shock and awe regarding the outcome.

I dont know the last time I was ever attacked IRL. Verbally jabbed at? Yeah. Actually just this weekend. And I remained cool as a cucumber. Ive learned often that no reaction at all is a win for me.

I'm the same IRL as I am on here. I can be verbally very confrontational, though it takes a bit of pressing to get me there. Once I reach that point, however, it's on. And while I am not proud to say it, when I'm really angry (e.g. you betray my trust/confidence, you cheat on me) the shit that comes out of my mouth would make Satan's jaw drop and put ordinary people in therapy.

I've heard whispers of this.. but far whispers...
I guess you really unleashed huh...
hard to defend when wit, discernment, and utter volume are turned up full blast.
However, I think scars are left on both parties.

I think shock and awe used to overwhelm me IRL, but I have become more numbed to it through experience... normal thing for all of us.

This I believe, I bet U really put out shit that u may have noticed and that may have been overlooked or denied by the other person and just hoist it in their face when you are thrust past the threshold...
I can see this...
U notice I don't fuck with ya.
Wait.. I don't fuck with anybody... yet.
j/k
yet.
lol
feisty tonight I'm feeling.

Yeah, just by hearing the like direct authority, you don't have a deep voice, just so self assured and stentorian, I mean it just sounds like you don't put up with bullshit, nor take any shit...

I can kinda seeing you as you get wiser, choosing and picking your battles of when to unleash...
You gotta lioness voice.
Great voice that fits you well... but more like Zeena Smurf Warrior Queen and not really Couch Princess.

i haven't attacked anyone IRL and i haven't been verbally jabbed at eighter. but if i were to get the full blunt of someone's rage, i'd stay cool. i rarly lose my composure now as is. if i get insults thrown my way, i just let them rant and rage and then calmly speak my thoughts. its maddening...to them atleast, just ask my brother.lol

+1
I'm the same way...
But I did get jabbed at growing up, more in undergrad then in highschool, but I never lost my cool, I just notice that people who lose their cool always seem to get attacked the most... I think its like a frequency thing.

I was always got jabbed at the least, but my anger threshold is not lower than alot of peeps I've encountered... in fact its higher than I would care to admit... I'm really learning this as I'm reading articles on facial muscles and subconscious cues, like I just recently notice how my face crinkles up so quickly when I don't agree with something I hear, read, or see... point is I think I have a Steven Seagull type demeanor, but I really don't.

The Steven Seagull reference was for my boy Traz...

the last time I was "attacked" physically was by that retard that jumped me so he could lick my cell phone outside the gym.

the last time I attacked someone else was a while before that when I whipped up on two repubs outside the gay bar.

I'm 5'10" and 245lbs...people don't verbally attack me in real life.

I like the passionate debates. I don't get more of them anymore. :(

It's a game. Or a joke. If you've lost your temper, then you've also lost the game.

Dickwad.

I'm the same IRL as I am online. Lots of snot slinging crying emotions come out. For some reason I think people like me that way. If I try to stay majorly cool I turn into a bitch and I don't like seeing myself like that. I'm pretty raw though. Good or bad, that's just me.

You're a sweetheart. I could just lick you all over (in a friendly way).

IRL, I have an extremely long fuse. If someone is cussing at me, I just take it for the most part. I don't care if people swear at me. "Fuck that guy" is all I think, then just move on.

If someone gets in my face, I'm just waiting for them to make the first move, then I'll fuck em up. Once someone shoves me, it's game on. I never start a fight, but i have always finished it. I haven't fought since high school, but that's how it always went down. I keep a cool demeanor unti they cross the line.

Now that I am big and strong compared to most, I'm afraid to hit someone without really fucking them up.

+1 Likewise. Cool and collected.

Well, being very shy I tend to use my two ears (in one and out the other). Within' the last three years I was attacked in my own home. Dude pushed me, my foot went into dog bowl and I hit ground. He jumped on top of me, but we were in a corner and couldn't get a angle on hitting me. We got back up and he did it again. This time connecting to the side of my noggin. I told wife "that's it" and somehow, i pushed him up and off me and before I could tell what happened I had my elbow on top of his throat. I was applying quite a bit of pressure when the wife told me he had a knife (carpet cutter). He stabbed me so he could breath. Actually half the handle was also in my arm. I applied more for and he went for a second stab. He didn't make the cut the second time. His eyes started rolling back, and I saw all the blood and wife called 911. It was my stepson........ I kept him outta jail though, but now the prosecutor of that county hates me. Funny thing was, if my arm wasn't where it was at time of stabbing, he would have killed me by stabbing me in the heart.

Verbal abuse, what is that?

When I'm verbally attacked I go home and cry in my pillow.

My feelings are fragile like a little china doll.

just sayin'

People don't usually "verbally jab" me IRL unless they're looking for a fight. I don't look too friendly.

Lol @ you being a cliche....what, am I watching bewitched? Which Darren are you?
hehe...the stereotype that I am is the first born taking care of the family members...

The only difference is that this family doesn't really deserve 'taking care of'.

So you're saying your wife hates your mom? Spell it out...based on your post I assumed it was her family?

Well, that too, but I'm used to that.

My view has always been that it's the first born's accountability to ensure that the bloodline continues and takes care of the older generation. I have no real idea where I got this in my head, but it's something that I've followed. So, when the MIL wanted to move in, I said sure because I thought that's what my wife wanted until her older brother could take care of her.

Since the move, I've amended the belief and added gratefulness as part of the criteria. If the family member isn't grateful or appreciative, then my father's rule about expendability kicks in.

I'm going to go buy a 40 for you and pour it on the curb. You ain't the firstborn of your mother in law...she will always judge you because her daughter is perfect.I'm the last born and I send money to all my family, it isn't smart but I was always the golden child and I take care of my siblings...because I can...

This is the best demeanor to have...
I'm doing studies on reactivity, that you can pretty much predict with 90% accuracy of when shit will get physical just by focusing on facial muscles and their micromovements.

Walli I'm glad you are okay....
The chaotic situations I hope are over...
Asking what is verbal abuse..
Walliwalbus is so not sounding violent, sounds like something warm and funny,
something which you really are...
keep moving forward bro.

First off, I really don't put myself in situations that could lead to a fight. I'm stronger than most people, very coordinated, and a good athlete. If I actually got pushed to the point of fighting, something really bad could happen with a punch landing in the wrong place.

Believe it or not, I usually hold my tongue too. Mostly because if someone tries to fuck with me I leave them looking like an ass in front of their friends and that could lead to my first paragraph. I did make a guy cry a few years ago. Felt like a douche.

When I think of U, I know you are into martial arts...
Aikido is perfect for ya, blend of philosophy and kicking ass...
Had an old friend who was a 3rd degree blackbelt could sense who was not to be trifled with, thats how high his awareness was, In January I'm gonna start taking classes

I love everyone.

I'm cool as the other side of the pillow 98% of the time. I can take a verbal ass kicking and never think twice about it. I don't deal with people touching me. I haven't been in a fight in a looooong time and would probably get my ass kicked but I have learned that the "I'm crazy and going to just flat out fucking kill you look" works. One of these days I'm sure it will bite me in the ass and I will be picking my sorry butt up off the concrete.

Until then I will have to be happy with having a million dollars and a 12" cawk. Just like every other guy on EF.

You should bro, I think with the type of discipline you have and how squared away you are, you would definitely excel at it.

I've dabbled in all sorts of martial arts over the years- tae kwon do (black), shotokan (brown), shaolin kung fu (brown), jujitsu, muay thai, hung gar, wing chun, hsing yi, tai chi, bagua, boxing, etc. I always like to continue to progress and learn new things all the time. I try to remain as humble as I can to be able to absorb different things from different people. I find that people with big ego's proclaim that their skills are superior to everyone else and stop learning as a result.

I'm sure she didn't mean it, AAP, you know how children are...

depends on the situation

i would never ever get into a physical fight, I've never been attacked in that way

my anger at verbal attacks irl - comes on fast and strong. I will either be a snotty bitch in defense or I will sit and just stew in anger.

Good answer. I am not nearly as composed.

I'm a white kid that grew up in west philly. I've fought enough in my life.

I wish I could reach to a point in my life where I find myself turning away when someone confronts me. I really do. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and it cause me a great deal of anguish. When someone attacks me, usually physically, it ends up with them seriously hurt, and I don't like it. I hope to someday overcome this childish behavior and not be so confrontational, especially that I'm married now...maybe it will come with time and age. Maybe.

I used to, and still do I guess, get so mad when someone would provoke me I'd feel dizzy. If I didn't do anything and walked away I'd be so livid for the rest of the night nobody would want to be around me. Once when that happened, 2 hours later I was still so pissed I punched a door off its hinges in my house. I had solid wood antique doors in that house. The fucking thing broke my lcd and my hand still has some pain from it. I learned you just have to let shit go because letting some other asshole ruin my day was really weak on my part.

Hitting the door is one thing. It's hitting someone in the face and breaking his face and then being interrogated that's quite another.

But, you're completely right. I guess that's what it means to be at peace with one's self. If I could be that way, I'd be a much happier person.

Dude, if I'm at peace with myself bacon is halaal.

Jesus, no wonder so many of you fuckers have done time! lol

I've never done time. I was arrested once when I was 19 (for assault), but I wasn't charged because I fought in self defense. I just took it farther than I had to. Clean record for me. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to do loans.

i have mellowed with the years and i don't find it necessary to "shred" people
anymore. there are a few exceptions. if someone is smug and condescending,
i can lower the bar sometimes. however, there is no *flying off the handle,*
being reactive is not productive. if you fuck with my family, that's another
story.
