ok i've read from a bunch of different 'gurus,' that yes have something to sell generally, but i try to find the truth somewhere in between. I like fish oil because it has the by product you want, epa and dha not ala.
As for omega 6, i believe generally berardi, serrano, possibly dipasquali, all generally want more o-3's in your diet because most all foods we eat are already high in o-6's. Like beef for instance is corn fed and high in o-6's (grass fed is not, but definately not your standard beef). Generally they also say total o'3s is important and so is o'3 to o'6 ratio. more o'3s leads to less inflamation, better glucose management, some blood thinning and a whole host of other things (including better health-- i recall on supertraining studies showing that just substituting polyunsaturates for saturates was not necessarily healthy-- they were o-6's in the substitution). Thats just a recap, i'd bet you know most if not all of that.
Anyway the point of view i'm coming from is one of skepticism. If the american diet, especially those who eat red meat and the like, is high in o'6's why would you want to pay to add more? i've seen recomendations of 1:3 to 1:1 ideal ratios of o-3
