Fina "Shelf-life?"

UnholyJoker

New member
I converted two carts of Fina about eight months ago, and have not touched it since, I just found it actually. It was in a shoe box in my closet.

Anyway, is the stuff still good? It looks exactly like it did eight months ago. Can I use it, or should I just start over?

Any input is appreciated.

along those same lines...i bought "extra" carts that i probably won't be using for a while. should i convert them now and store them that way or leave them unconverted. does it matter?

From what I have heard, Fina converted is best if used within a year of the conversion date. The unconverted fina in the package should have an expiration date on it. Its fine to keep it until that date without converting. If you do wait until the date is nearing expiration, I would say to use it soon afterwards. The only prob you may have with fina past its expiration date is it may be weaker. Hope that helped.

I would convert it. while I have seen no proof a lot of people who know a lot about fina say that the oil acts as a preservative and you should be able to keep it well over a year. As tee said all that will happen is it will get weaker.

speaking of converting

i recently converted two carts using the no heat method. anyway i let the pellets sit in the "magic solution" for about a day and a half before i mixed it with the sterlile oil. after disolving the pellets there was of course the layer of gunk at the bottom with the dark brown tren on top of it, but after I mixed the oil with the tren and let it sit for a day I noticed the layer of gunk is thicker and darker. I am worried that some of the tren has precipitated thus explaining the thicker layer. I hope this is not true because i don't want to weaken the concentration of the remaining solution. can anyone clarify this for me?
