feds in hushmail....?

I think alot of people underestimate the FBI's abilities to crack, hack, decrypt, listen, spy... Man, they can look at all this shit... Do you really think they are in their offices scratching their heads going "Damn, they all got hushmail!!! Whatta we do now???"...No, they got this shit on lockdown... Just be glad they don't go after small fries like us...

haha. I agree completely. The patriot act deals with terrorism. Do you think that the government will be looking threw email and be like I FOUND A CYCLE OF TEST!!! HOLY FUCK lets go see the judge. Name one case where the government has abused or charged anyone for crimes they found through the patriot act. If your son was killed in a terrorist attack you might think twice to let the government have some lienancy on spying.

If the Feds have time to crack your e-mail to catch a few guys trying to get bigger muscles, I really pity this fucking country. I don't think e-mail surveillance of juice heads is high on the governments priority. If it is, I really hope some terrorist gets a suitcase nuke into DC ASAP.

Your mistake is thinking that the government acts as a whole. There are stupid people working for the government, just like they have assholes working there - just like in any profession. All it takes is one of these pricks to be the guy who gets the job of going through your particular email to get you into trouble.

Just because somebody works for the FBI, DEA or SS, does not mean they are saints. Some ambitious jerk might stash your name in a file and once that file gets big enough, decides his way of getting promoted is to crack down on a few hundred steroid users.

Thats why I dont like the idea of the government reading my email, not because I am against fighting terrrorism.

what would be the chances of the fbi cracking into someone's hushmail account, and monitoring the transactions they were making and who they were with.... perhaps in order to get the source? would this be common or at all possible?

Xman, you really ask the most obvious questions bro.... Sometimes I think you start threads just to see your name on the board.... Of course they can crack it if they want to, but why would they want to? Are you giving them ENOUGH reason to? If you aren't a major source, I wouldn't worry....

Like Prizz said..... I HIGHLY DOUBT that many people have near big enough file for anyone to worry about. And the government doesnt care enough about steroid abuse. They bring it up in speechs because its politics and they have to.

I dont know if this applies but what the hell I thought I'd share it with you anway.

I remember reading an article where some lady was going thru security at one of the major airports and because she was running late and the TSA was in no big hurry she mumbled something to the effect if she wanted to get a bomb on board the airplane these pee-ons (TSA screeners) couldn't stop her.
Unfortunately one of the screeners heard her pulled her off to the side where she was quickly arrested and detained for 4 hours while they ran a security check on her.
Once she was released she inquired about her luggage, she was informed that because of the threat when her luggage arrived at its destination they feds couldn't take any chances so they submerged her luggage in water and blew it up.
To my understanding the Patriot act gives the Feds more latitude than you can imagine and if they happen to stumble on a source in the name of National Security whose going to question it?
