Favorite Smells?

Stefka

New member
My number one favorite smell is the smell of old books. I love used book stores and old libraries. On more than one occasion I have sniffed a book and bought it primarily for its aroma. I like studying in the old, dark, falling apart grad student library instead of the shiny and new comfortable chair having law library because I think the grad library has a better book smell.

What are yours?

Salt marsh.

SEx..For some reason sex smells good..Gas too (no not pharts)..blueberry muffins. brownies, too

I'll always remember the smell of tea wafting through Cork City while on my way to class. Brings back great memories.

i think you've molded your e-persona around my sexual visions of you as a scantily clad librarian.

and my fav smell is good weed, freshly lit in a vaporizer

I've always loved the book smell.
I was in the grad library yesterday and it was almost overwhelming.
I felt all safe and comforted and not at all afraid of the two weeks of hell ahead.

An old vacuum-tube amplifier warming up.
Rain on pavement on a spring afternoon.
An old Italian restaurant.

The smell right before it starts snowing in the mountains.

I like the book smell too, especially in an old building.

The wind coming across the heather in the highlands.

A woman with that fresh out of the shower smell, no perfume, no scented lotion, just clean.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Coffee.

My husband, particularly after he's been sweating for a bit.

The back of a ferrets neck.

A pine forest.

Any kind of baking, cookies, pies, but particularly pumpkin pie.

Lots of good smells in this thread.

Makes it hard to choose, but I'd say:

The crispy winter air after a fresh snow
Springtime, when the snow is melting
Summertime, Lilacs (I'm not geigh)
Fall, folks burning Cherry wood in their fireplaces/bonfires

most of these have been said:
when it's fixin to rain
my son plays hockey, the locker room when he got a big game
new baseballs

Sorry, I did not read the other responses as I only listed my fav's.

You can spank me if you wish. :goatslaye

What I was trying to say is that honeysuckle is like pussy, or vice-versa.

As far as the spanking (and your reaction to it); that would be a different thread: favorite sounds.

Oh jesus christ, I'm good for the fucking karma

I'm certainly old enough to not be patted on the head and given the "that's okay, you'll understand someday," answer.

I also like the smell of pipe tobacco.

And that really sweet smell that you smell when you're hiking at high elevations in the western states. I dont know what plant that is.

Easier than making multiple trips to different stores :whatever:

I do more than 90% of my shopping in Whole Foods, and get my soap/shampoo/conditioners/skin care stuff there. It's the only place to get most of the products I use. Stuff in regular stores/drug stores/salons is loaded with perfume/artificial colorants/preservatives/chemicals.

yeah i know you are a dude i didnt mean nothing by that

I never really thought about a guys shopping habbits but now I guess I see how a guy can do that

but you are paying a huge convenience fee

Do you buy yours at beauty salons? If so, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona for you.

Yeah but I buy the Walmart stuff too

But I'd never pay 3 bucks for a bottle of shampoo at the grocery store that I could get for .98 cents at Walmart.

Plus all the other stuff he probably buys at the grocery store too if he's getting shampoo, soap, paper products etc.

nah, Suave only costs like $10 and lasts bout 4 months for me, I don't really think twice about hygiene product prices

Wow, thanks for saving our planet!
I don't do it to save the planet, you insufferably obtuse know-it-all. I do it because I suffer from multiple chemical sensitivity and several food allergies, specifically I have celiac disease. Do you know what that is? Gluten sensitive enteropathy, a sensitivity to gluten, which is a wheat protein. People with this disease must avoid gluten-containing grains, which include all forms of wheat, oats, barley, and rye. That also means avoiding it in body care products. Do you think I LIKE spending about twice what an average person does on food and health care products? NO, but if I didn't I wouldn't have a life, period.

You try finding wheat free pasta, bread, waffles, baking mixes in a "regular" food store. Wheat protein is even in about 25% of shampoos/conditioners.

Jesus why do I ever remove you from Ignore? Back to Siberia with you, you ignorant shithead.

Have you ever used products from Tom's Of Maine? I use their toothpaste and deodorant, but have passed on the shampoo SINCE I'm so addicted to Paul Mitchell products! And... My "Coiffure" demands a lot of product. :)

What brand do you buy?

d00d. . .i'm weird :freak:

i also loved the way my kids smelled, when they were babies, after you'd get them out of the tub and they were all cleaned up and in their pj's. . .that baby smell is really powerful. . .something that you'll remember the rest of your life. . .and as they get older, you stop and look at them once in a while and you remember that smell and it brings a tear to your eye. . .

New electronics (like a new computer just out of the box, or an xbox or a ps3 etc)
the smell of a day turning to dusk
redwoods (openness)
poon

->coke, markers, superglue, white out, meth.. ya know o wait.. WORST SMELLS <-

I use Tom's dental products because they're fluoride free and have some interesting flavors. The deodorant has propylene glycol in it and I react to that stuff, badly.

I have never been a "hair" person. I learned a long time ago, leave it long, tie it back, leave it alone, give up.

Irish Cream tobacco while drinking Guinness is heavenly.

Yeah the smell off the tundra is awesome it's a mix of a few different plants. The smell in the Highland of Scotland is like that but sweeter due to the heather.

Scotsman

I like the smell of scotch tape(reminds me of xmas).
I love the smell of old sweat and leather(like an old boxing gym).
My dad's sauna smells awesome. I think it's the wood.

really bangin weed (before its smoked)
new car, especially with leather seats
women's hair after it's all conditioned/shampooed/cleaned
plastic wrapper from video games

and anything that's been in the pool (chroline smells nice). towels, wimminz

Good call, Scotsman....when a woman's hair is still wet and she uses good smelling shampoo...she best not walk too close to me unless she wants to be in need of another shower.
