Extraterrestrials wouldn't be hostile

This discussion is inherently ridiculous.

You are trying to apply human characteristics to alien beings.

Silly.

Aliens would have to share at least some characteristics with humans, would they not Frack?

- They'd have to have a way to communicate, just like us
- They'd share common knowledge with us (for example, the speed of light is no different to an alien than to us)
- They'd have to be at least somewhat physically similar to a human (physical body capable of movement, you wouldnt see an alien blob)
- They cant violate laws of physics, so if aliens wanted to come down to Earth, they couldnt "transport", they'd have to come down and land their ships

I disagree. The type of technology it'd take to make space travel feasible is far beyond anythihg we currently have now, so any race/species who had mastered such technology would have to be generally smarter than us....
Wisdom isn't the same thing as intelligence.

Mankind is very intelligent. Is he wise?

What would probably happen is that some fat alien with four green slimy tentacles would come around in a hawaian shirt , with sandals and white socks and talk about our cute, but a little backwards planet. Maybe they would bitch about about our planet not having 1000000 different canals on TV, but they can cope with it for 2 weeks.

I seen a ufo!

Who says aliens cant be blobs or defy laws of physics? There are lifeform blobs on our planet right now!(dont go there). So put a brain in one big deal. Who says they have to have arms and legs? Dolphins are smart, they dont have legs! Maybe they'll propel themselves by continuous high hydrogen farts! Fact is, until one of these bastards beams down in my backyard I will not formulate an opionion. I would tell the story of the time I seen a UFO, but im afraid that would be a big waste of time here. Oh well, here goes anyways. I dont know what to tell you, I havent seen any 200' diameter orbital spaced lighted up ships hoovering 100feet over a railroad track since then. I wasnt drinking either. Go ahead, have fun with that one! I know what I saw, I drove right under the motherfucker. My friend wanted to stop, I speed up and told him if he wanted a closer look jump out the fucking car because im gone. It zipped off into nothing after we were about 1 mile from it. Yeah, ok, it was a government thing! Sure! I know, it was a low orbit satellite!

The reason I said it couldnt be blobs is because blobs mostly likely couldnt put together a space ship and work the controls.

Maybe the aliens wouldnt look much like humans, but theres a good chance that an advanced life form would have arms and legs of some sort.

As for defying laws of physics, thats up in the air b/c what humans think of as laws of physics may not be all true... or aliens may find new laws of physics or ways to alter them. BUT until we see aliens transporting, flying, or something of that nature, it'd be wise to assume they they are effected by gravity, heat, etc. like humans are.
