All minorities fight dor their rights. I'm not denying anything either. I'm just telling you facts. If a Sikh (Indian religious man) can get away with not wearing a helmet in construction sites and while on motorcycles and get special treatement from the police because of their religious beliefs, then muslims can get their rooms. Besides, I really doubt they would've given those girls rooms, were it not that the rooms were requested by several women for privacy issues. The US is not THAT open-minded.
thats just catering to the lowest common denominator. if you want to work on a construction site, you wear a helmet. if you dont want to wear a helmet, then you dont work on a construction site. if that means you cant work, then its the same as abstaining from sex or eating shrimp or whatever goofy shit your religion demands that you do, and God will reward you for it.

as for these muslim chicks going to the gym, well, if God thinks that headdress or whatever bullshit is appropriate dress for the daytime, then im sure that He took into account that youd occasionally do hard physical labour and should therefore fully expect that you dont diss Him by wanting to take it off while you got on the treadmill.

i think its fair enough to cater to minorities such as disabled people because that is not a choice. your religion is.

ps people are shit

I'm also in Canada so I remember when those three things made the news. It was fucked up back then and it's fucked up now. I remember when that Sikh man was allowed to not wear the motorcycle. I kinda hoped he'd get into a little accident so that he could have his faith and God tested.

Also, I remember when the Mountie bended to pressure and had the Sikh join. That's fucked up. I felt very sorry that my country bended to that pressure and didn't keep up with their tradition.

However, it did give me hope that my nephew can still be a mountie wearing the batman mask.

I Sikh was allowed to do that...

Another incident happened in Canada:

A little girl wearing a hijab was made fun off by the soccer coach and told to take off the hijab. The girl refused saying that she is obligated by her faith, so he kicked her off the team. how does the hijab effect her gameplay or her health or the result of the game? that's preferential treatement to the Sikhs and not muslims....

Simple. The hijab could limit quick turning vision and the ability to run. Try wearing a scarf and running all out vs no scarf. You tend to breathe easier when there is no scarf.

As well, there is the matter of a soccer uniform. At one soccer game, one of my kid's friend was kicked off the team because he wouldn't take off his bracelet. The rationale was that the bracelet could scratch other players.

In either case, I didn't really care because the soccer club was a private one and I could choose to pull my kids out of the league if I didn't like it.

If the muslims want to have a league, then they could either scan all leagues to find one that allows for the hajib (ahead of joining) or make their own to allow it. Don't join one, then complain when you don't like the environment.

Clearly he is an idiot, as are his student followers.

What is most disturbing to me is the inaction of the police and school.

US is a free country, if you want to run around and act like an idiot then you can. Break the law and that's something different.

You guys might not be old enough to remember when cults were big but that's basicly the same thing.

Jim Jones forever. LOL. Great public speaker, his follow through was a little questionable.

it's the little girl's freedom to wear the hijab if she wanted to. It's utter bs. It doesnt effect her playing. give me a break. Do you really believe that?

Anyways, if the girls want to workout, they could go to another gym that has a private room for women. They don't NEED to change the whole university rules for that.

I believe that she must abide of the rules of a private club, not the other way around.

If it was my private soccer club, then it's my rules. Don't like it? Find another club or start your own. That's the benefit of the free market. The demand dictates what's permissable and what isn't.

But nothing in the rules stated that she can't wear a hijab. Making up a rule on the spot is un-called for.
