I hadn't thought too much of it until our ER closed for a morning last week after a suspected case presented. It ended up not being ebola but made me think I needed to learn a little more....which I still haven't really done. :(

I bless the rains down in Africa

I wish someone would explain a little more what an outbreak on this continent might look like.

Like, I want to know if it Would it spread as quickly here. Right now it doubles like, every 15 days. The ROI is something like 2.5-3.5 right now. Would the ROI decrease in an outbreak over here? The CDC says that if it's not contained that it would be 1.5 million by January, and those numbers doubling every 2 weeks get doomsy.

Is it wrong that I think about it like "thinning the herd". I feel sorry the doctors are contracting it. Perhaps quarantining the area, and letting it run its course would stop the spread. When does walking dead come back on?

I don't feel sorry for the docs. They have no business leaving their own country to treat the people of Africa. Africa needs to learn to fend for itself.

And better yet, when UN aid workers contract ebola, don't fuckin' bring them here. They did that shit to themselves. Don't risk the lives of people who aren't self-righteous douches thinking they can save the world.

Guess we'll find out.

CDC confirms first case of Ebola in the United States | MSNBC

The Texas Department of State Health Services also confirmed the Ebola diagnosis. “The patient is an adult with a recent history of travel to West Africa,” the department said in a statement Tuesday. “The patient developed symptoms days after returning to Texas from West Africa and was admitted into isolation on Sunday at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.”

Some dumb asshole travels to a 3rd world toilet, infested with disease and famine, then brings his germs back here to pollute everyone else. This person should be charged with attempted murder and/or euthanized before it spreads any more.

didn't said fgt return home with other save the world liberal do-gooders

Where are they

it wasn't who he travelled with because he wasn't showing symptoms then

and I was under the impression he was from Liberia visiting family here

and possibly not an American citizen, not a save the world do-gooder

and I'm probably right, a save the world do gooder would have told the ER docs that he had been to Liberia on the 26th and would have been isolated then probably... and likely would have alerted someone on the 24th on day one of his symptoms

if you're knot contagious until you show symptoms how cum they let fgts leave such a shit hole with a direct flight to teh U.S.?

Quarantine them to see if they're symptomatic

Then deny access to those goat smelling fuckers anyways

Oh god, he got sick on the 24th and went to the hospital on the 26th...they sent him home! Then he went back on the 28th.

So we can assume his family members or at least some of them have been infected. So he infected at least 3 people, but who else did he infect during that ER visit and the 5 days he was symptomatic...

Thats why I don't go to the hospital. Just google and me.

Of course, it's in Texas! LOL

just kidding SD....;)

This is purely a function of retarded government: why the FUCK would you not ban all incoming travel by anyone that has been in Africa in the prior 30 days? I have been wondering that since this Ebola outbreak began...it was only a matter of time with the idiotic free travel policies in place. The whole fucking continent of Africa should have been quarantined by the rest of the world months ago, and all aid workers should have been transported back segregated on military flights, and had a mandatory quarantine period in an out-of the way locked down military facility for a full 2 weeks after returning from there. Completely preventable!

Hmmmm maybe he should stay there???

You should worry about obesity, not Ebola.

Oink oink

Why don't you post up a pic of your fat fucking beer belly sticking out farther than your tiny yellow dick? Make sure to get your scrawny ass arm in the pic, showing off that homo rising sun tattoo.

That's because cnn said 60% of Americans are most concerned about the economy

lets wait till next week to freak out

lets see what happens next week.

lets wait and see if there are any cases next week from contact with this man, and how many that is. If there are over 3 and if they are direct contacts or if random patients start popping up.

It migrated! I was trying to talk one of my buds into faking ebola...like start a you tube channel about it or something, profit....

but nah that's that cool

...stock up on your bullets, beans, and water :) Start showing all your friends that movie Contagion...someone is making money off this hysteria

That's because cnn said 60% of Americans are most concerned about the economy

Should have been doing that 6 fucking years ago
Watch him pinball to the next crisis in a week that he wont properly address, just hit air

CDC has basically gone from "its hard to catch" to "you have to be 100% perfect dealing with this shit"

said 100% multiple times

I said it years ago and my wife didnt believe me when i said when there are important issues to handle, you dont want obama in charge. Hes keeps proving me right over and over again.
Leading from behind doesnt work when youre an American President.

What I don't understand is anyone who wants to restrict non essential air travel from these countries in Africa gets the eye roll saying it won't do anything. There are a million ways to do that and still get aid and healthcare workers into these places. Even essential commercial travel could continue but hopping on a flight to see your uncle should be restricted.

Not one good reason have I heard or read why we shouldn't do that.

What do these people need to get through their thick skulls that we run the show? Do we need to globally pull our kids from school and stop flying to get them to realize we don't want an easy way for this virus to come here? Our healthcare workers don't need an easy way for this virus to arrive in their emergency rooms.

Of course, it had to find it's way to Spain!

Lol joking

But I'm taking the whole thing pretty serious. I'd rather look crazy now than look stupid if everything went bad.

I am too. I love how I've read that taking a dangerous level 4 one of the most deadly viruses known to mankind seriously is called "hysteria". I see comments from people on facebook comparing it to the flu and the media has overblown this, I guess some people don't like to cross bridges until they're burning? I don't know.

The CDC said that if it wasn't contained in west africa that we could be looking at 1.4 million cases by January.

Cases are doubling every 20 days we are at 20,000 right now (adjusted for unreported) with a 60-70some% death rate. So far we are at a 50% death rate in the US.

Granted we only have the two cases right now, but we've had two in two weeks and we aren't changing the way we do anything.

One case has turned into two in 14 days. I don't know. I'm taking it serious. I don't think its something I'm going to catch out and about this week, but I have a number of cases within 100 miles of me where I've decided to just check out and I'm not going to leave my house.

Yea, I've never been a prepper but we've stocked up on essentials ahead of the curve. My granddad told me a long time ago it was better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
