Eating a lot= Early Death

As a bodybuilder I eat a lot of course- six to seven meals a day, three squares and three to four high protein snakes (shakes and protein bars). My girlfriend thinks this is "crazy". She says I don't need 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per pound to grow and that there are scientific studies that prove that eating too much food, a bodybuilder's diet in other words, puts ondue stress on the digestive system and the result is a failure in health and an early death.

I'm NOT saying she's right. Any thoughts on this? Any one else get this from the people that care about them?
 
It's common sense, it can't be good for your body to be eating all that food. Large amounts of meat, high protein...

But, it's better than stuffing your face with burgers and fries at lunch and a bowl of pasta that could feed a family of Somalians for a week for dinner and not working out.

You need to be worried about your colon.(I'm serious), as long as you consume large amounts of water and fiber(soluble is best) you minimize the potential damage.

And I agree with your Gf, you don't need 1.5-2g of protein per lb of BW if you aren't juiced.
 
I don't think it's healthy, but if that's the worst thing you're doing to your body, then you'll probably live longer than most people. Whatever you do, don't tell her that you juice or you'll really get to hear it.

Mike Francois had to have emergency surgery a few years ago and when they opened him up, the doctors discovered that his stomach was eight times bigger than normal. That can't be good. lol
 
Hey...I just noticed something.

You eating 3 good meals and 3 or 4 protein bars/shakes can't be any worse than the fat asses out there that eat 2 shitty meals and 6 bags of greasy potato chips and drink half a dozen cans of Pepsi every day.
 
What your girlfriend says probably has some merit. But like the others said, there are alot worse things you could be doing.
 
Good responses bros. Yeah, I think I just draw attention to myself because I eat very clean. People don't like this apparently!! I see so many people consuming just as much or more calories than me, but it's from ten beers, cheese cake, snickers bars, doritos, ice cream...

When you eat two whole eggs and six egg whites, 1 cup of oat meal and an apple for breakfast or your idea of a snack is a protein shake or a metrex bar you draw a lot of attention to yourself. I do!

Just wait till June when I start my cycle and start eating like a mutha fucka!! :D
 
Faster metabolism = shorter life. (All other things equal, of course. No reference to colon cancer, stomach cancer, etc.) It's why an elephant lives longer than a mouse.

Still, I don't know how much eating 6 meals a day will accelerate metabolism. The elephant/mouse idea should not apply.

Years ago, the Science Times featured an article about a doctor who thought that minimum caloric intake would contribute to long-life. The guy was as skinny as a rod -- but very old. Go figure.
 
As long as you keep your cv system healthy and organs healthy with some cardio and you shit a lot I don't see how eating a lot would be that bad for you if it is healthy. You are giving your body plenty of nutrients that it needs to fight off diseases and stuff, unlike the fat asses who eat funions instead of something that will help their body. 1.5-2g per lb of bw seems a little high imo, I just stick to around 1-1.3 (off cycle).
 
Its a proven fact in ANIMALS that if they are fed 1/3 rd less calories throughout there life they can live 1to 2/3rds longer!! There currently doing testing in humans. It makes sense and is proven that what you eat directly effects longevity. Compare the age and diet of someone living in okinawa japan to someone in a florida trailer park eating Budweiser and Micky D's every day
