DUMB question I'm sure but what is the

difference between "real" kickboxing and the stuff at the gym...I can do the stuff at the gym no problem....started taking a real class and couldn't move for 3 days after I was so sore in the back and the ribs :worried:

I'm not sure how your class is set up, but it may be kicking against resistance; obviously, you'll recruit more muscle fiber against a bag or solid target.

that's probubly it
but really we can't tell you what you lived through you should be best able to answer the question yourself
what was different from the real kickboxing class and the cardiokick or whatever you did
(nice legs btw)

After last night I am seeing a huge difference and loving the real stuff! Wahat a hard empowering workouot!

cool!

i really wish more people that were in cardio rooms across the US would pick up a real activity, hobby or sport that would provide the cardio for them. would be even greater if most of those people picked up a good martial arts class IMO

id rather get a good workout, meet new people, learn something new and get a lil bit of self defense work then just sit on a bike and pedal to nowhere..

yeah me too... but we already have an activity we enjoy that lets us go out .. meet people and learn cool stuff.. most people just climb stairs

I like training a lot but not for dropping fat
I want the training to work for that and I think it does but nto as quickly as some other forms of cardio

It is a women's kickboxing class....considered somewhat cardio in parts when all the moves are done at a faster pace...but nothing like whimppy cardio kickboxing at my own gym......this other kind kicks ass

THAMK YOU !

I always wonder what the HELL the Cardio-Monkeys have to be rated in IQ to be able to sit there doing NOTHING for so long . I get bored LOOKING at a Treadmill ! Im too damned ADD , I guess !

To answer your overall query the Impact itself has an Effect on how your Muscles recover . Much like Massage or the way you see Boxers taking Medicine Balls to hte gut to train , the shocking impact on your muscle tissue wakens it to a slightly different kind of fatigue . and youre basically getting DOUBLE the workout when youre hitting something , one you moved your Muscles , TWO youre FEELING that Kinetic Energy wash back across your Frame and back to the Ground . On top of that there iios the3 Resistance Aspect . You tell ppl that Resistance training is a vastly superior training methodology do you not (with THOSE legs and Glutes you MUST know the value !) ? Well , the bags and Pads RESIST your striking muscles ! Its really just that simple . AND youre actually getting some SKILLS that you can APPLY !!!

glutes? I need to see this...

I dont' get bored too quickly
I can be on the bike for 15-20 minutes and not be too bored

My glutes?? LOL just look at my gallary......LOL

djimbe....thanks a ton! That all makes great sense!
