Drawed and injected with the same needle

Today I did my routine every 5 day test inject and I forgot to change the needle before injecting. I didn't even realize it until I was done, but I thought to myself while stabbing myself "this never is this painful". Anyway anybody else done this before? I'm not gonna get an abscese am I, from possible bacteria off the rubber on the vile?

Wipe the top with alcohol and it's no big deal. I never change needles. Draw, thump, push the air out, poke, aspirate, inject. After 10 years, i have never had an abcess or infection (knock on wood).

Maybe not...But that dulled needle WILL create more scar tissue than necessary :(
(and the pins are like 10 cents each, so there is NO REASON not to switch them before injecting...)

Definitely dulls the needle and a 18g will pick the oil up easier anyway. Not essential, but good practice to switch, though an abcess is unlikely.

It's just a hassle. I've never noticed an excessive build up of scar tissue either, but i only hit a site once every 6 weeks.

BTW, i'm not sure where everyone is getting their pins, but i swear you cannot beat the price that CVS has.

I use the same needle, although I probably should switch them (drawing from a 25g takes an eternity!)

superdawgy - does CVS give you any hassle when you get pins from them? I'm assuming you have to ask the guy behind the Pharmacy counter

I've never had any problems with them. I started shopping there last year and they know me by name now. I can get 50 BD 1.5" 22ga for $7.50+tax. It's cheaper than getting them online.

It really depends on your state of residence. I used to get them at cvs as well, but I was off gear for a few years and since returning Va has gotten way more difficult. Not to say you couldn't still walk in and get them, especially with a good relationship with the pharm, but from state to state things are alot different. For me, it just not worth the hassle or looks from some dipshit behind the counter. I know I should just mind my biz, but I'm always a second away from launching into a tirade about my right to the pursuit of happiness so long as it isn't infringing on others so don't give me a g-damn second look- which they really don't want or deserve to hear... So I skip the cvs these days and just collect my mail.

Unless you dropped the syringe, or their was dust on the rubber top, or it wasn't clean. I don't think you have anything to worry about. You should make it a habit to clean the rubber top first, then I don't think using the same needle is such a big deal. Hospitals always use the same needle that was used to fill the syringe. Naturally you want to change needles after that, or better yet use the old needle to fill the syringe and then put a new one on before you inject. I like to use the same needle and get all the air out myself while the needle is still in the bottle, I draw more than is needed, flick the syringe with my finger and then put the overdrawn amount back in and I'm ready to go. But thats just me.

I also get from CVS. Only some of the stores stock them on a regular basis. Once you find one they usually will be willing to order you a whole case of them and this way saving you even more money. Not like it is a bank breaker though the charge 18 cents per syringe where I am from.

Accept were pins are regulated in your state, it's totally up to the Pharm. CVS always gives me a hassle so I don't go there. Sometimes I goto Osco, Walgreens, some Pharms will sell them to you, others won't stating you need to prove you have a prescription that you need access to pins, or just a note from your DOC.

An infection is possible (though its ALWAYS possible with any injection).

The worst part is probably over with though now (the injecting with a dulled needle :()

Yep... honestly more times then not, I pull and inject w/the same pin. UNELSS, I'm using a 25G pin and a thicker oil...

Me too, it's a lot cheaper too!

i tried this once only becuase i was out of needles. I can see if you do it with amps, but if you push a pin through a rubber stopper, DO NOT try to inject with it. I had a burise the size of a silver dollar on my calf. It would NOT puncture the skin, no matter how hard i pushed. I switched to my last needle and it worked perfect.

I did use a vial injection and afterward I injected into 3 different areas with the same needle. I guess maybe it depends on the quality and brand of the needle you buy.

Have you EVER seen what a needle looks like under a microscope after even ONE injection :eek2:...WHY one would reuse needles is a mystery to me?

I've switched for different injections... but VERY guilt of using 1 to draw and shoot. It's the sadomasochist in me!
