I think letting your cat outdoors if you live in an urban area is irresponsible. Farm country is a different story, but I live 17 miles out of Philadelphia, high traffic suburbia. What gives cat owners the right to let their feline's roam loose in the neighborhood?
We both know most cat owners don't have true "house cats"
My cats have not, do not, and will never go out. They have actually been trained that going near the front or back door is BAD. As I have said before, I live at the corner of a VERY busy intersection, I would be murdering my cats, whom I love very dearly, if I were to let them out.
That being said, at least (most) outdoor cats have the common decency to poop somewhere very out of sight AND they usually dig a hole and bury it.
Dogs, meanwhile, don't think twice about copping a squat right in the middle of the sidewalk.
