DOG FIGHTS.. what to do? how to break em up???

i have 2 boxers, and every month or so, they go at it over food or a toy. what i do is just grab the dog closest to me. I pick him up and turn away from the other dog and that stops the fight. after that, they make up and they're buddies till the next fight.

THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS PULL THEM APART. EITHER THAT OR GET A CATTLE PROD TO SHOCK THEM (ITS A LIGHT SHOCK). THAT SOUNDS CRUEL BUT WHEN YOU HAVE TWO MALE ROTTS AND A MALE PITT ALL FIGHTING, IT WORKS GREAT.


I DONT USE THE PROD THOUGH. I JUST PULL THE PIT OFF FIRST AND THROW HIM IN A PEN REAL QUICK. THEN I GRAB MY ROTT OFF OF THE OTHER ONE CUZ HE USUALLY HAS THE OTHER ONE BY THE FACE OR NECK.

All you have to do is grab the dogs hind legs to pull them apart and take the dog to another area to break up the fight. This way you won't get bit.

Water and hitting the dog won't always work that's why I don't recommend it. Plus if you hit the dog too hard you can do some irreperable damage.

I was living at this place where the owner had 2 pits. One day they got into a big fight and the owner tried spraying the dogs with water which didn't work. He tried a ton of things until he finally got a huge cast iron frying pan and clubbed the dog on the head with it which didn't even phase the dog. He ended up have to wait for them to stop fighting on their own. After talking to a few people he heard about grabbing the dog by the hind legs and its worked for him ever since.

i cant go near one of the dogs heads.. she has seizures now and then... gotta avoid hurting her or the other will destroy her.

kayne.. how can you pull them apart if they are latched on... i mean, the one had the other by the scruff of the neck.. and the other had a foot in her mouth... and when i got the foot out my hand was in there...... but all the pulling couldnt break the grasp on the scruff of the neck...

When I was a little younger and more aggressive, I would charge right into the middle and yell at the top of my lungs and scare the shit out of the dogs. I had no fear. I knew that I was very quick and could fuck up a dog real fast. I was also a lot more crazier. Now, even though I'm stronger and bigger, I'm more relaxed and probably not as fast. Dogs scare me more. I don't know if I could react quick enough to keep them from sinking their teeth into me.

FIRST OFF, IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR DOGS, DONT LISTEN TO NAV. I NVR HAVE KICKED MY DOG. I HAVE HIT THE OTHER ROTT AND THE PITT THOUGH BUT NVR HURT THEM.

THAT BEING SAID, I HAVE THE ONE ROTT WHO STAYS INSIDE AND THE PIT AND OTHER ROTT STAY OUTSIDE AND IN THE GARAGE. MY DOG DOESNT GET ALONG WITH THE OTHER TWO AT ALL. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TRYING TO BE GENTLE BREAKING THEM APART. THAT WILL ONLY DRAW OUT THE PROCESS AND YOU WILL GET BIT MORE AND THE DOGS WILL HURT EACH OTHER MORE. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.

LAST TIME THEY WERE FIGHTING, I MANAGED TO GET A WHOLE COMPLETEL THROUGH MY RIGHT HAND FROM THE OTHER ROTT.

THIS IS HOW I DO IT: I GRAB THE PIT FIRST CUZ WINNING OR LOSING, THAT BASTARD WONT STOP. I GRAB HIS BACK LEGS (OR WHATEVER I CAN GET) AND PULL HIM OUT THEN PUT HIM UP. MY ROTT AND THE OTHER ROTT ARE STILL FIGHTING AT THIS POINT. WHEN I GET BACK A FEW SECONDS LATER, MY ROTT USUALLY HAS THE OTHER ONE BY THE FACE OR NECK.

DONT WORRY ABOUT BEING GENTLE AS I SAID BEFORE. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL GET FUCKED UP WORSE. I GRAB MY DOG, USUALLY UNDER HIS CHEST, WITH BOTH HANDS AND PROCEED TO PULL HIM AWAY (WHETHER HE IS LOCKED ON OR NOT). USUALLY HE HAS THE OTHER ONE PRETTY GOOD BUT YOU HAVE TO PULL THEM APART. USUALLY THE WORST THING THAT WILL HAPPEN IS A FEW CUTS ON THE NECK. BIG DOGS ARE TOUGH SO THEY WONT GET HURT TOO BAD, PROBABLY NOT AT ALL.

IF THE OTHER ROTT GETS RAMBUNCTIOUS AND CONTINUES TO TRY TO ATTACK, I PUNCH HIM IN THE NOSE IF I HAVE A FREE HAND. I USED TO BE AFRAID OF HURTING HIM, BUT USUALLY MY HAND IS THE ONE THAT WINDS UP BEING HURT. IT JUST GETS HIM AWAY FOR ENOUGH TIME TO GET MY DOG IN THE KITCHEN.

THE OTHER ROTT AND THE PIT USUALLY FIGHT ALOT ALSO. WHEN THEY FIGHT, ALL I HAVE TO DO IS WALK OUTSIDE WITH THE CATTLE PROD. ITS A STICK THAT HAS A SHOCK THING ON THE END OF IT. THEY SEE IT AND STOP FIGHTING INSTANTLY. THEN THEY PROCEED TO GROWL AT ME WHILE WALKING AWAY FROM ME. I WOULD NVR SHOCK MY DOG WITH IT EVEN THOUGH IT IS A LIGHT SHOCK.

WE ALSO HAVE AN ELECTRIC FENCE CUZ THE OTHER ROTT IS AN ESCAPE ARTIST. HE CAN OPEN GATES AND CLIMB FENCES.

I would just kind of shove my face right between their muzzles and hope for the best. If that didn't work I'd start urinating on them and start singing a happy song.

Your advice is just to "pull" apart two 140-lb dogs locked onto one another? I can't just can't fathom a 120lb woman beign able to do that. Even a bodybuilder would have trouble yanking them apart. Unless you have mace, or a prod...there's no way to really seperate them *gently*.
