does glutamine servings factor into your total daily protein?

i count the 20 grams or so of glutamine i take daily towards my total daily protein intake of 200 grams. 180 from food+20 from glutamine. does anyone see a problem with this if the glutamine is ingested after your meals??

I asked Omega this a long time ago about his glutamine peptides and he said it does count as protein for the day

I would not count it in as your total daily protien. When they are talking about daily protien intake they are assuming one thing...that the protien source is a whole protien which is a composite of amino acids not just one, especially in the case of L-Glutamine.

no...never. its not protein, it doesnt count.

Glutamine is not protein? lol

but what if you ingest it with your food/shakes? arent all the amino acids there to
make the liquid/meal a complete protein source?

Listen bro, considering you're only taking in about 20gm/day, it really isn't going to make a big difference whether you count it or not. Most people don't even know exactly how much they're taking they just know they are taking in what they need. 20gm og protien really isn't much at all. If it were me in your uncertain shoes, I would just bump up my protien one more serving to be on the safe side.

Glutamine is an amino acid. Protein is made out of many amino acids, not one. That said, Glutamine HAS a caloric value. I consume about 40g of glutamine a day so it comes down to 160 calories, which is somewhat significant when doing a cutting diet (it all adds up, glutamine, sugarless gums etc..). Bottom line, count glutamine as calories, and take some more protein along with the glutamine.
