My problem with all out bodybuilding...
I used to have a life. A very good life. My free time alternated between scuba diving, rafting, kayaking, boating, snowmobiling, ATVing, hunting and shooting.
Then I decided to try and get "jacked". I spent a lot of money on it but that isn't the problem. The problem is that I quit doing other things. A major reason for this is that ones muscles are exhausted for a while after a big workout. I went snowmobiling yesterday and my arms felt like spaghetti. It is harder to concentrate on work when one is totally focused on the next workout. How much energy do you have after a monster workout? Not too much unless you are on a lot of gear.
Then I compare the hard core lifters to those with a life outside of the gym. I see humor, personality, brains, and compassion by the guys with other interests. I look at the posts of those who only have one interest. They impress me all right....though not in a good way. Frankly....I wouldn't want to be like them.
I can't tell you how many times I have compared members of a group. The jacked guys demonstrate nothing other than posturing and their simpleton jobs. Wher is that going to get you? Respect at the gym?
You want to be jacked? Terrific. I just think there is a horrible price to pay for that. A price I am no longer willing to pay. Except for Spring Break....I will get jacked for that.
